Atoll Dive Center has been operating in Taiwan since 2010, providing a professional base for divers exploring the waters around Kenting. Situated in the centre of Hengchun, the centre is well-positioned for those using local transport or arriving from Kaohsiung via the Kenting Express or bus 9188.

The centre focuses on a structured approach to diving, catering to those looking to start their journey or professionals working towards Instructor certifications. With an emphasis on safety and environmental responsibility, it serves as a reliable hub for both recreational exploration and technical skill development.

The team consists of 7 qualified instructors, ensuring that training and guided dives are conducted in small, manageable groups. This allows for the personalised attention necessary for mastering buoyancy or navigating complex wreck environments.

Founded by Michael, a former parachutist and rescuer, the centre maintains a strong focus on safety protocols. The staff are experienced in a wide variety of disciplines, from basic Open Water training to professional-level courses such as Divemaster and Assistant Instructor.

As an SSI affiliated centre, Atoll Dive Center offers a complete progression of courses. This begins with Scuba Diver and Open Water Diver, moving through to Advanced Open Water Diver and various Specialty Diver programmes.

For those looking to advance their technical skills, the curriculum includes Deep Diving, Underwater Navigation, Nitrox, and even Dive Science. The centre also facilitates professional training, including Dive Guide, Divemaster, Assistant Instructor, and Open Water Instructor certifications.

Specialised training is available for specific disciplines, such as Underwater Photography and Videography, Search and Recovery, and even Boat Diving. They also offer essential safety and skill-based courses like Stress and Rescue, React Right, and Perfect Buoyancy.

The centre provides full equipment hire for those not travelling with their own kit. For those needing specific components, there is a selection of fins, masks, and wetsuits available.

On-site facilities include a shop for equipment sales and repairs. The centre also offers Nitrox service for divers looking to extend their bottom times on repetitive reef or wreck dives.

The reefs are home to a diverse array of marine life, including sea turtles, lionfish, and moray eels. You will frequently encounter various species of butterflyfish, cardinalfish, and snappers, alongside schooling fish such as squirrelfish and perch.

For those interested in smaller inhabitants, the area is excellent for spotting nudibranchs, anemone shrimp, and pygmy seahorses. Clownfish and various rays also inhabit the sandy patches and reef structures.

The hard and soft coral life provides a rich backdrop for every dive. You can observe red gorgonians, robust red whip corals, and various soft corals, including cork-shaped varieties and orange obtuse-angled corals.

Divers should be prepared for varying conditions, as currents can become quite strong, particularly during drift dives and when navigating around wreck sites. The Hejie Ribs Shipwreck, in particular, is often subject to strong tidal currents.

Planning is essential when visiting the more exposed sites, as downcurrents can occur, especially in areas like Dingbaisha.
