Set in a bay on the Cefalù coast, this is a hotel for divers who want the sea close, a proper place to eat afterwards and enough space to slow down between outings. The grounds combine a green park, terraces and a private beach area, so your day can move from salt water to shade without turning into a logistical exercise.

English and Italian are spoken by the hotel team, which keeps the basics straightforward when you are arranging a transfer, asking about dinner or trying to establish whether the beach shuttle has already left. The atmosphere leans towards couples and relaxed seaside stays, but family rooms, babysitting and a children’s pool also make the property workable for a mixed-age trip.

There is a spa, a fitness centre and a concierge service, while free WiFi covers the hotel. In other words, you can deal with the practicalities, then put the phone down and get on with the more useful business of eating, swimming or staring at the bay.

The address is in Cefalù, on the northern coast of Sicily, rather than in Palermo. The hotel sits directly by the sea in a secluded bay overlooked by the Rocca, with the historic centre and cathedral about 1.1 miles away. That is close enough for a visit, but far enough to keep your room away from the full evening traffic of the old town.

Calura Beach is about 150 metres away, while Cefalù Beach is roughly 1.3 miles on foot. The hotel also has access to Calette Beach, a golden-sand beach reached by complimentary shuttle, with sun loungers, parasols and showers. A useful detail for a diving holiday: you have more than one way to spend a non-diving afternoon, and none of them requires a long transfer.

The Madonie Regional Natural Park is around 650 metres away, and Portella di Montenero is about 8 miles from the property. Cefalù railway station is roughly 1.3 miles away on foot. For dinner beyond the hotel, La Tavernetta is about 0.9 miles away, with La Trinacria and Tenuta Spinola within about 1 mile.

The room choice matters here because the difference is not just a label on a booking screen. A standard double or twin is the sensible option for two people who plan to spend most of the day out and about. If you want more room to spread out, a Junior Suite or a sea-view suite gives you a more generous base, while the sea-view villa is the practical family choice, with room for up to four guests and two bathrooms.

Sea views are available in several categories, while others look towards the garden. That gives you a simple decision: choose the view when the room is part of the holiday, or choose the quieter, more functional option when the room is mainly where you shower, sleep and attempt to remember which dive computer is charged.

All rooms have air conditioning, a minibar, a kettle, a desk and a flat-screen television with cable and satellite channels. Bathrooms include a shower or bath, toiletries, slippers, a bathrobe and a hairdryer. Soundproofed rooms and a mosquito net are useful after a long day outdoors; the air conditioning is the part you will appreciate when the Sicilian heat has followed you back from the coast.

Two restaurants cover the main meals. Cala Luna Restaurant serves dinner with Sicilian cooking built around Sicilian ingredients, either on the lawn under the stars or in an elegant dining room. It is the evening choice when you want to sit down properly rather than treat dinner as another item to clear before sleep.

Calette Reef Restaurant serves lunch and dinner in a bistro-style format, with a terrace overlooking the bay and an indoor panoramic room. The cooking stays rooted in local flavours, with the hotel’s restaurant description also highlighting Italian cuisine and a particular interest in fish and seafood. That should suit a coast-based stay rather better than a menu designed to be the same everywhere.

Breakfast is a continental buffet and is included. There is also a snack bar, a coffee house, a bar, room service and breakfast in the room. The Pool Bar handles light lunches, snacks, aperitifs and drinks later in the day; the Reef Bar does the same by the beach. Special-diet menus are available on request, and packed lunches are available when a full sit-down meal does not fit your plans.

One outdoor pool gives you an easy place to reset without going back to the sea. It is heated by solar panels, and pool and beach towels are available. Around the property, sun loungers, beach chairs, parasols, a sun terrace, outdoor furniture and a garden provide the necessary equipment for the advanced post-dive discipline of doing very little.

The spa is more substantial than a token treatment room: massage, facial treatments, body wraps, a hammam, sauna and Jacuzzi are available, along with a spa lounge and relaxation area. Couples’ massages are among the treatments on offer. A foot bath or a back massage may be the more realistic choice when your legs have already done enough work for one day.

For a more active afternoon, there is a fitness centre, yoga, tennis equipment and bicycle hire. Cycling, hiking, canoeing and water-sport facilities are available, while walking tours, bike tours, aerobics and local-culture classes add organised options. Some activities take place off site or carry an additional charge, so check the arrangement before setting off in flip-flops with a grand plan.

Falcone-Borsellino Airport is about 100 km away. An airport shuttle is available from the hotel on request, either as a private or shared arrangement depending on what you book with the property. Car hire is available, and free private parking is provided on site; parking cannot be reserved. A shuttle service is also available for getting around the property’s beach arrangements.

Check-in runs from 15:00 until midnight, and check-out is by 11:00. Early check-in and late check-out can be requested. A 24-hour reception, luggage storage, lockers, concierge service and a tour desk make the awkward gaps around travel easier to manage, particularly if your arrival and departure do not line up neatly with the room.

The hotel has a lift, step-free areas and accessible rooms, with accessibility arrangements covering the route towards the beach. Laundry, dry cleaning and ironing are available. Families can request a cot for children aged up to two, subject to the selected accommodation and availability; extra beds are not available. The Calette Reef Club beach club operates from June to September.
