Built from renovated Aeolian farmhouses, Solemar Hotel keeps its identity tied to Salina rather than trying to look like a generic island hotel. The setting is simple and welcoming, with the sea close by and the archipelago spread out in the view.

Lipari is around 20 minutes away by hydrofoil. Reggio di Calabria Airport Tito Minniti is listed 55 miles away, although reaching Salina involves the island connection as well as the airport journey. The Aeolian Regional Archaeological Museum is about 9 miles away.

For two, the sea-view double or twin room is the obvious choice if you want the island panorama to remain part of the day after the mask has dried. The standard double or twin room keeps things more contained, while the family rooms make better sense when you are travelling with children or sharing the stay with a small group.

The larger family layout uses a king-size bed alongside bunk beds and a sofa bed, so it is practical rather than spacious in the grand-hotel sense. The triple option adds a single bed to the main sleeping arrangement.
