Pollo Diving

Situated in the sheltered waters of Angolo Azzurro at the start of Porto Pollo, Pollo Diving offers direct access to some of the most striking marine environments in the Mediterranean. The centre serves as a gateway to the La Maddalena and Lavezzi archipelagos, where the granite coastline meets clear, protected waters.

Since its establishment in 2019, the centre has focused on a personalised service model. By keeping boat groups small and utilising high-performance equipment, they ensure that every diver can focus on the underwater topography and the resident marine life of the Sardinian coast.

The team is led by experienced instructors, including Stefano Tedesco, Jessie Stolk, and Stefano Iraci, who bring a wealth of international diving experience to the local waters. They are capable of conducting instruction in Italian, English, German, and French, making the centre accessible to a wide range of divers.

Safety is managed through strict group limits, with a maximum of five divers per guide. This ratio allows for close supervision during both recreational dives and more technical training sessions.

As a PADI Dive Resort, the centre offers a comprehensive curriculum ranging from entry-level programmes to professional certifications. Beginners can start with Discover Scuba Diving, Bubblemaker, or the PADI Seal Team and PADI Master Seal Team programmes for younger divers.

For those progressing through the standard progression, the centre provides Open Water Diver, Advanced Open Water Diver, and Rescue Diver courses, including EFR training. More advanced divers can pursue the PADI Deep Diver Specialty, Divemaster certification, or the Try Guide programme.

The centre operates a 7.5-metre semi-rigid powered by a 200hp engine, designed to navigate the archipelagos efficiently. The boat is limited to a maximum of 10 divers on board, ensuring a comfortable and stable platform for all passengers.

Onboard, you will find water and snacks provided for your comfort during the trip. The vessel is used for standard day trips, afternoon dives, and night dives upon request.

Pollo Diving is a Scubapro authorised centre, offering both equipment servicing and a dedicated retail catalogue for new Scubapro kit. For those not travelling with their own gear, a full range of rental equipment is available on-site.

To enhance safety and gas management, the centre provides 15-litre cylinders, which offer a larger air reserve than standard tanks. They also stock 10, 12, and 18-litre cylinders to suit different diving profiles and requirements.

The local waters are home to a variety of large Mediterranean species. You can regularly encounter groupers, common dentex, and various species of snapper, alongside eagle rays and tuna passing through the area.

In the rocky crevices and around the reefs, look for moray eels, scorpionfish, and octopus. The presence of large barracuda and kingfish adds to the dynamic nature of the pelagic sightings.

Smaller residents include salema porgy, damselfish, and starfish, which can be found amongst the various reef structures. In certain areas, such as the Città’ delle Cernie, you are likely to find significant populations of groupers.

The diving is conducted via boat from Porto Pollo, with departures typically scheduled for morning and afternoon sessions. The centre offers night diving on request, allowing for a different perspective on the local marine life.

Some dive sites, such as those around Caprera, Lavezzi, or the Angelika wreck, are classified as long-distance or medium-distance excursions, requiring more time on the boat to reach the destination.
