Abyss Divers Torre Flavia Diving

Located in the Porto Turistico Odescalchi in Santa Marinella, Abyss Torre Flavia Diving has been a fixture of the local diving community since 2000. The centre is ideally positioned near Rome, providing easy access to the Tyrrhenian Sea's varied underwater topography.

The local seabed offers a diverse range of environments, with depths typically ranging from 5 to 40 metres. You will find everything from shallow reef flats and rocky outcrops to significant wreck sites and vertical walls, making it a versatile area for both novice and advanced divers.

The centre is run by a team of five specialised instructors, all qualified through PADI and SSI. This allows for a broad range of training, from initial open water qualifications to advanced technical skills.

Having been established for over two decades, the team brings a high level of experience to every outing. They organise not only local guided dives but also dedicated diving weekends within Italy, as well as liveaboard cruises and trips to the Red Sea.

Abyss Torre Flavia Diving provides a comprehensive training catalogue through both PADI and SSI. You can start with the Open Water Diver or Advanced Open Water Diver courses and progress through to Rescue Diver and Divemaster levels.

For divers looking to specialise, the centre offers several technical and skill-based courses. These include Nitrox, Deep Diver, Wreck Diver, Sidemount, and Dry Suit diving. They also provide advanced training in buoyancy through the Massima Esecuzione Assetto course, as well as Search & Recovery and underwater photography and filming.

The centre operates an 8m semi-rigid boat for getting you to the dive sites. This vessel is used for various types of excursions, including night dives and guided explorations of the local reefs and wrecks.

Full equipment hire is available on-site, allowing you to dive even if you are travelling light. This includes essential kit such as regulators, BCDs, and exposure suits.

For those looking to extend their bottom time or enhance their safety margins, Nitrox is available for use. The centre is also equipped to support night diving excursions.

The underwater landscape is defined by its varied structures, including rocky reefs and wrecks that provide essential habitats. You will find diverse gorgonians and sponges colonising the hard surfaces of the walls and artificial structures.

Macro life enthusiasts can look for smaller inhabitants amongst the crevices and rubble. The complexity of the local sites, particularly around the wrecks and rocky outcrops, supports a variety of crustaceans and other small organisms.

The area is characterised by a healthy range of Mediterranean flora and fauna, with the different depths providing various niches for different species to thrive.
