Diving Shop Nana

Located in the Miura-gun region of Japan, Diving Shop Nana has been a fixture of the local diving community since 2007. The centre is situated near Hayama-bashi, offering easy access for those travelling by car from the Zushi area or via the National Route 134.

The team at Diving Shop Nana focuses on safety and personalised instruction, maintaining a ratio of no more than four divers per guide. This ensures that whether you are a beginner or a professional, you receive the attention required for a controlled and enjoyable experience.

As an SSI affiliated centre, they offer a comprehensive curriculum. Their commitment to the ocean extends to their daily operations, including a '1 Dive 1 Gomihiroi' initiative where divers participate in underwater cleaning to help maintain the health of the local reefs.

Diving Shop Nana provides a complete range of SSI training programmes. Beginners can start with the Open Water Diver course, progressing through Advanced Open Water Diver and specialty training such as Deep, Navigation, and Perfect Buoyancy.

For those looking to professionalise their skills, the centre offers Divemaster training and various specialty courses including Dry Suit, Boat diving, and DPV (Diver Propulsion Vehicle). They also provide specialised instruction in underwater photography and video.

Boat diving is a core part of the experience in the Hayama and Miyagawa Bay areas. These trips allow you to reach deeper water and encounter different marine species than those found on the immediate shore.

The centre also organises night dives by boat, providing access to different nocturnal behaviours among the local fauna.

The shop is well-equipped for both local shore dives and boat excursions. For those needing to rent kit, they provide BCDs, regulators, wetsuits, and drysuits, as well as fins, masks, boots, and hoods.

They also stock winter gear such as gloves and offer rental options for dive computers and underwater camera equipment. For professionals or those requiring specific gas blends, Enriched Air Nitrox is available on-site.

The rocky reefs are home to a diverse array of life. In winter, you can find Kinugobii, Dango Uo, and various species of seaweed such as Akamoku, Hondawara, Wakame, and Kajime. During the summer, the area sees groups of Chagara and the appearance of Isoginpou and juvenile Kinugyohanadai.

Seasonal visitors include migratory fish in the autumn, as well as Madako during their spawning season. The spring months are a particularly good time to look for Umiushi.

For macro enthusiasts, the area offers plenty to discover. You can look for various species of Blennie, Relativity Goby, and the delicate Umiushi among the rocks and crevices.

The local environment is characterised by rocky reefs and varying depths. Visibility typically ranges between 6 and 7 metres. In the autumn, a decrease in plankton levels can lead to improved visibility for divers.
