Apnea42 Freediving (Singapore)

Located in Singapore, Apnea42 Freediving is a specialised training centre dedicated exclusively to the discipline of apnea. Unlike standard scuba centres, the focus here is entirely on the physiological and mental aspects of breath-hold diving, promoting a calm and holistic approach to the water.

The centre operates primarily through two local training sites. You can train in the 50m pool at Methodist Girls School (MGS), which reaches depths of 3m, or utilise the 4m depth available at the MOE Evans CCAB facility. These locations provide the controlled environment necessary to build foundational skills before moving to open water.

The centre was founded by Mark, an instructor trainer for both AIDA and SSI. His expertise is backed by a significant personal history in the sport, having previously held the Singapore national depth record at 75m. This level of experience ensures that the technical instruction is grounded in high-level performance and safety.

Instruction is delivered with a strict emphasis on the buddy system and constant communication. The centre maintains a ratio of three divers per guide to ensure personalised attention and safety during training sessions. All instruction is conducted in English, catering to the local and international diving community in Singapore.

The course catalogue covers the entire progression of freediving, from initial Discovery Freediving sessions to advanced Level 3 certifications. For those looking to refine specific technical skills, the centre offers a Frenzel Equalization Clinic and various pool training packages.

Training is available through AIDA and SSI affiliations, including the AIDA2 Beginner course. The centre also provides specialised programmes such as the Mermaid Course and dedicated A42 Kids Freediving sessions. For divers looking to integrate apnea with other disciplines, an Open Water Component - Level 1 Course is also available.

For those who do not wish to carry their own kit, the centre provides full rental options including masks, snorkels, fins, and weighting. They also stock a range of apnea-specific equipment for purchase on-site.
