Coral Point Diving

Coral Point Diving is a PADI 5 Star IDC Center situated right on the beach in the picturesque fishing village of Bayahibe. For over 14 years, the centre has operated from this strategic location, overlooking the bay and providing access to the diverse marine ecosystems of the south Dominican Republic.

The centre distinguishes itself through a science-based approach to diving. With marine biologists on staff, the team integrates reef monitoring, Dive Against Debris cleanups, and active coral nursery programs into their operations, ensuring that your time underwater contributes to the sustainability of the local environment.

The team is composed of experienced instructors, dive guides, and marine biologists. This expertise ensures that every dive is informative, whether you are working on a certification or participating in a conservation-led excursion.

To maintain a relaxed and personalised atmosphere, the centre keeps dive groups small, with a maximum of four to five divers per Divemaster. This ratio allows for close supervision and more meaningful interactions with the marine life during your dives.

As a 5 Star IDC Center, Coral Point Diving offers a comprehensive range of PADI training. You can begin your journey with the Open Water Diver course and progress through to Advanced Open Water Diver, Rescue Diver, and Divemaster levels.

The curriculum also includes specialised training such as the PADI Nitrox course, Deep Diver, and Wreck Diver. For those looking to enter the professional ranks, the centre provides Instructor Development Course (IDC) training and Master Scuba Diver Specialty courses. They also offer Freediving and EcoDiver programmes.

The centre provides a full range of rental kit for those not travelling with their own equipment. For those looking to capture their dives, GoPro underwater cameras are available for rent.

Safety and reliability are central to the operation, with all equipment maintained to high standards and technical assistance available on-site to ensure everything is ready for your session.

The reefs around Bayahibe are teeming with life, from large pelagics to colourful reef residents. You will frequently encounter eagle rays, barracuda, and various species of sharks and turtles. Schools of fish, including sergeant majors, bar jacks, and fusiliers, move through the water, while groupers and moray eels are often found patrolling the reef structures.

The macro life is equally diverse for those who know where to look. The sandy bottom and crevices host spotted rays, southern stingrays, and various crustaceans such as lobsters, crabs, and shrimp. Seahorses, nudibranchs, and lettuce slugs can be found amongst the corals, alongside delicate species like blennies and various types of wrasse.

Fixed life provides a vibrant backdrop to every dive, with healthy hard and soft corals, sea fans, and large gorgonians swaying in the swell. Anemones, sponges, and various sea urchins add texture and colour to the seascape, creating a true underwater garden.

Conditions in the Bayahibe area are generally characterised by light to moderate currents, though certain sites can experience stronger flows suitable for drift diving. The reef systems are well-protected, though divers should be prepared for occasional surface currents when visiting deeper wrecks.

Visibility is typically excellent, with many sites offering clear views that allow for easy navigation and spotting of marine life.
