ScubaFun has been a fixture of the Bayahibe diving scene since 1992. Owned and operated by John Sack, the centre is established as a PADI 5 Star facility, providing a consistent and professional environment for both holiday divers and those looking to progress through their training.

The centre is ideally positioned to access the diverse underwater topography of the region, from the sheltered reef flats to the more dramatic limestone formations within the Del Este National Park. Whether you are looking for a relaxed day of reef exploration or more structured training, the operation is built around a reliable fleet of six boats.

Beyond the diving, the centre is active in local conservation efforts, supporting coral restoration initiatives and lionfish management programmes. This commitment to the local ecosystem ensures that the reefs you dive remain healthy for the long term.

The team at ScubaFun consists of professional instructors and guides dedicated to a high standard of safety and service. The staff is multilingual, capable of conducting dives and training in English, Spanish, French, and German, making it easy to communicate technical details or dive plans.

The centre maintains a relaxed but professional atmosphere, where the crew takes care of the heavy lifting, such as changing cylinders and managing your equipment. This allows you to focus entirely on your buoyancy and the marine life around you.

ScubaFun offers a comprehensive curriculum of PADI courses for all experience levels. Beginners can start with Discover Scuba Diving or the Open Water Diver course, while those looking to advance can progress through the Advanced Open Water Diver, Deep Diver, and Wreck Diver specialties.

For divers pursuing a professional career, the centre provides training up to the level of Divemaster and through the Instructor Development Course (IDC). Safety and first aid are also prioritised, with Emergency First Responder training available to complement your certifications.

The fleet comprises six vessels, including four motor catamarans and two vedettes. These boats are designed to provide comfort during excursions, with a newly built vessel specifically customised to enhance the experience for divers.

On board, you can expect snacks, fruit, and drinks to keep you refreshed between dives. The catamarans provide a stable platform for both day trips and night dives, covering a variety of sites including the local reefs and the mangroves near Catalina Island.

Full equipment hire is available on-site for those not travelling with their own kit. This includes all the essentials required for a comfortable dive, from regulators to BCDs and fins.

For those looking to extend their bottom time or change their decompression profiles, Nitrox is available. The centre is also well-equipped to handle night dives, providing the necessary support for exploring the reefs after sunset.

The reefs are home to a vibrant array of tropical fish and larger pelagics. You can regularly encounter sea turtles, eagle rays, and nurse sharks cruising the sandy areas or patrolling the reef edges.

Macro life is abundant for those who know where to look, including seahorses and various species of lobster. The seabed and reef structures also host giant sea stars and various tropical fish species.

In the surrounding waters, there are also sightings of dolphins and manatees, adding to the diversity of the Caribbean marine environment.

The diving area is characterised by calm seas, making for stable boat rides and easy entries and exits. The local waters offer good visibility, which is a key feature of the region's underwater landscape.
