Pissouri Bay Divers

Situated in Pissouri Bay, just 100 metres from the shoreline, this centre serves as a central hub for diving across Cyprus. Its position allows for easy access to the diverse underwater landscapes of the east and west coasts, from the rugged reefs of Paphos to the famous wreck sites near Larnaca.

Established in 2009, the centre has grown into a cornerstone of the local diving community. It is uniquely positioned as the only operator in the Paphos-Limassol corridor providing daily boat departures, ensuring you can reach the best offshore sites without relying on shore entries alone.

The centre is a family-run operation led by Steve, a PADI Master SCUBA Diver Trainer (MSDT). This level of expertise ensures that the training provided is technically sound and meets high professional standards. The team is multilingual, with instruction and support available in English, German, and Dutch.

Beyond standard recreational training, the centre demonstrates a strong commitment to marine conservation. They are active participants in Project AWARE and conduct regular clean-ups at the Jubilee Shoals to maintain the health of the local ecosystem.

As a PADI 5 Star centre, the full spectrum of PADI courses is available. This ranges from introductory programmes like Bubblemaker, Discover Scuba Diving, and the Scuba Diver course, through to Open Water Diver and Advanced Open Water Diver.

For those looking to progress further, the centre offers Rescue Diver, Divemaster, and various specialty courses. These include PADI Deep Diver, Wreck Diver, Navigation, Night Diver, and Peak Performance Buoyancy. Technical and specialty training such as Nitrox, Emergency O2 Provider, and Dive Against Debris are also part of the curriculum.

The Barbossa is a bespoke dive boat designed to accommodate up to 12 fully kitted divers. Powered by a 200HP Volvo Penta inboard engine, it provides reliable transit to the offshore sites.

On board, you will find essential amenities including freshwater, a first aid kit, and 100% oxygen for safety. The boat is equipped to handle various trip types, including full-day excursions, half-day charters, and night dives. Nitrox is available for those looking to extend their bottom times during offshore trips.

The centre operates a full retail shop and features certified Scubapro and Mares technicians on site for equipment servicing. For divers travelling without their own kit, a full range of rental equipment is available.

Nitrox is available for use, and the facility is equipped with the necessary hardware to support enriched air diving. The shop also serves as a hub for equipment specialists and those looking to upgrade their personal gear.

The reefs and walls are home to a vast array of large pelagics and schooling fish. You will regularly encounter large groups of amberjack, sea bream, sea bass, and barracuda, alongside resident groupers and lionfish. Mediterranean moray eels and octopuses are also frequently spotted among the rocks.

For those interested in turtles, both loggerhead sea turtles and green sea turtles frequent the cleaning stations at the Jubilee Shoals and Elephant Rock. Occasional sightings of dolphins can also occur in these waters.

Macro life is abundant throughout the various swim-throughs and crevices. Divers can find a variety of nudibranchs, trumpetfish, pipefish, and scorpionfish, while cuttlefish and various species of wrasse inhabit the reef structures.

Diving conditions vary depending on the chosen site. Some locations, such as the Costandis wreck, can experience occasionally strong currents, while the Jubilee Shoals are well-suited for drift diving due to moderate currents.

Shore dives, such as those at the Amphitheatre or Pistol Bay, offer more sheltered environments. The Zenobia wreck is best explored between April and October when conditions are most favourable.
