isLIFE DIVING is a PADI affiliated centre located in Ito, serving as a gateway to the varied underwater landscapes of the Izu Peninsula. Rather than sticking to a fixed routine, the centre operates on the principle of following the 'seasons of the Izu Sea,' adapting its choice of dive sites to the daily shifts in visibility, safety, and biological activity.

The centre's expertise extends far beyond the immediate Higashi-Izu Jogasaki area. By monitoring more than 50 different sites across the peninsula, the team ensures that you are always placed in the best possible conditions for the specific marine life or topography you wish to encounter.

The centre is led by Kosei Kimura, an instructor with 16 years of experience, including 13 years focused on the Izu region and 3 years spent diving in Okinawa and Ainan. Kimura is a specialist in underwater photography and diving skill development, making the centre a strong choice for those looking to refine their buoyancy or photographic technique.

Beyond instruction, the team is actively involved in marine conservation, participating in coral protection and marine debris removal. This commitment to the local environment is integrated into their approach, encouraging divers to engage with the ecosystem they are exploring.

isLIFE DIVING offers a full range of PADI training, from the initial Open Water Diver course through to the Advanced Open Water Diver certification.

Specialty courses are also available for those looking to expand their technical repertoire or specific interests. The instructor's expertise in photography means you can receive guidance on capturing high-quality images during your training or exploration dives.

The centre provides a full range of rental kit, including wetsuits, regulators, and BCDs. For those travelling light, individual items such as masks, snorkels, fins, gloves, and boots are available for hire.

For underwater photographers, the centre offers a Nikon D850 equipped with two flashes, allowing you to focus on the dive rather than your gear. Nitrox is also available for use on site to support extended bottom times or enhanced safety margins.

The waters around Izu are rich with diverse fish species. You will frequently encounter yellowtail damselfish, golden blennies, thick-striped gobies, white-spotted gobies, and reticulated filefish. Other common residents include snake tongue soles, spotted snake eels, longfin gobies, and various species of scorpionfish.

Macro enthusiasts will find much to explore, particularly at sites like Futo. The area is home to a wide array of small creatures including red frogfish, dwarf cuttlefish, pygmy pipefish, and various species of gobies such as the ribbon goby and white-spotted banded goby. You can also find seahorses, shrimps, and various types of amphipods.

In the autumn, the marine life becomes particularly active with the arrival of many juveniles. During night dives at Osezaki, the ribbonfish can be encountered using light traps, while glass gobies are often seen on gorgonians.

Diving in the Izu Peninsula is subject to the seasonal shifts of the Pacific. Visibility can vary significantly, ranging from 2 metres to 30 metres depending on the time of year and the specific site selected.

Temperature conditions fluctuate between 14°C and 27°C, meaning the choice of wetsuit is an important part of your preparation for the season.
