Viking Scuba

Located in Dungun, Terengganu, Viking Scuba has been a fixture of the local diving community since 2017. The centre is positioned conveniently opposite the Viking Scuba Jetty, making the transition from land to boat straightforward for those arriving from Kuala Lumpur or beyond.

As a PADI 5 Star Instructor Development Centre, the facility is geared towards both recreational exploration and professional progression. Whether you are visiting for a few days of leisure dives or looking to complete a professional qualification, the operation is built around small group sizes and experienced guidance.

The team is led by PADI Platinum Course Director Azman King, who brings 28 years of diving experience and 24 years of teaching to the centre. The instructor staff consists of six professional divers, many of whom have been teaching for over a decade.

Training is conducted with a focus on personalised attention, maintaining a ratio of no more than six divers per guide. This ensures that whether you are working on buoyancy in a Peak Performance Buoyancy course or navigating a wreck, the instruction remains precise and safety-oriented.

The course catalogue is extensive, covering the entire PADI progression. Beginners can start with Discover Scuba Diving or the Open Water Diver course, while those looking to advance can pursue Advanced Open Water, Deep Diver, or Wreck Diver certifications.

For technical and professional divers, the centre offers specialised training including Sidemount Diver, Tec 40, Tec 45, and Tec 50. As an Instructor Development Centre, they also host the PADI Divemaster and Instructor Development Courses, providing a direct pathway for those looking to turn diving into a career.

The centre operates two custom-designed 40-foot dive boats, the Lady Fatima and the Lady Safiya. These vessels are equipped with low-emission engines and are designed to provide a stable platform for daily trips to Pulau Tenggol.

On board, you will find sheltered seating, a pantry with tea, coffee, and snacks, and a dedicated dry area for your bags. The boats are also equipped with essential safety kit, including life jackets, life buoys, and emergency oxygen, alongside onboard facilities such as a toilet and changing room.

For those not bringing their own kit, Viking Scuba provides a full range of Scubapro rental equipment, including BCDs, regulators, wetsuits, fins, masks, and dive computers. The equipment is well-maintained to ensure reliability throughout your dives.

Nitrox is readily available for certified divers, with 32% and 36% options provided. The centre is also equipped to support technical diving, offering rebreather support and a range of advanced training options.

The waters around Pulau Tenggol are famous for large pelagics. You may encounter whale sharks, mobula rays, devil rays, and marble rays passing through the area, alongside various species of glassfish.

The reef architecture is highlighted by the presence of black corals, providing a complex habitat for a variety of marine life. These structures support a diverse ecosystem that makes every dive visually engaging.

Macro enthusiasts will find plenty to observe among the reef flats and structures, from smaller crustaceans to various reef fish that inhabit the coral formations.
