Blue Heaven Divers

Blue Heaven Divers is an SSI-affiliated centre situated on Tioman Island, Malaysia. The centre is conveniently located a five-minute walk from the ABC village quay, making it an easy base for those staying in the local area.

With a focus on small group instruction and personalised attention, the centre caters to a wide range of experience levels. Whether you are looking to complete your first certification or are an experienced diver seeking deep wreck or drift dives, the operation is structured to adapt to the specific conditions of the day.

The centre operates with a commitment to small group sizes, maintaining a ratio of maximum four divers per instructor. For those undertaking introductory dives, this is further reduced to two divers per guide to ensure close supervision.

Instruction is multilingual, with staff able to conduct courses and briefings in English, French, and Japanese. This makes the centre a versatile choice for international divers looking for clear communication during technical or recreational training.

Safety is integrated into the daily routine, with every diver provided with a Uwatec Aladin dive computer and a dedicated ascent buoy. The centre also offers the option of diving insurance through DAN Europe for those completing courses.

The centre offers a comprehensive curriculum of SSI courses, ranging from the initial Open Water Diver qualification to the Master Diver level. Divers can progress through the Advanced Open Water Diver and Rescue Diver programmes, or pursue specific training through the SSI Advanced Adventurer and Specialty Diver pathways.

Specialised training is available for those looking to refine specific skills, including Nitrox, Deep Diver, Wreck Diver, and Night Diver courses. The centre also provides instruction in buoyancy control, underwater navigation, and marine naturalist studies.

The centre operates a 10-metre speed-boat powered by a 200hp Yamaha engine. The vessel has a capacity for 12 people and is equipped to carry the necessary kit for two dives per trip.

Local dive sites are accessible within five minutes, while Coral Island can be reached in approximately 15 minutes. Nitrox is available for use on board, supporting divers looking to extend their bottom time.

For those not travelling with their own kit, the centre provides a full range of rental equipment. This includes Aqualung Pro BCDs in sizes ranging from XXS to L, Aqualung Calypso and Titan regulators, and Seapro masks, including options with corrective lenses. Fins are provided in an open-heel style, and cylinders are available in 8L, 11.2L, and 14L volumes.

Maintenance is a priority, with regulators serviced at least twice a year and BCDs inspected annually. Cylinders undergo annual visual inspections and hydrostatic testing every five years. The facility also includes separate rinsing tanks for delicate equipment and for sterilization purposes.

The reefs around Tioman are vibrant, with hard and soft corals providing a backdrop for large schools of snapper, fusiliers, and jacks. You will regularly encounter turtles, eagle rays (Aetobatus), and blacktip reef sharks (Carcharhinus melanopterus) patrolling the deeper sections of the walls.

Large pelagics are a highlight of the more exposed sites, where you can spot great barracuda (Sphyraena barracuda) and various species of snapper. In the deeper canyons and currents, Napoleon wrasse and bumphead parrotfish are known to frequent the area.

For those with an eye for detail, the macro life is extensive. The seabed and coral structures are home to a wide variety of nudibranchs, sea snakes (Hydrophiinae), crabs, shrimp, and gobies. You may also find scorpionfish, pufferfish, and various species of anemonefish amongst the reef crevices.

Diving conditions on Tioman vary significantly depending on the site. Some locations, such as Tiger Reef, North Point, and Last Frontier, are known for strong currents that require experienced divers to manage their buoyancy and positioning effectively.

In contrast, sites like Pirate Reef and One Tree Bay offer much calmer conditions, making them suitable for beginners or those looking for more relaxed dives. The ability to navigate these different environments is a key part of the local diving experience.
