Global Scuba Institute

Located in Pahang, Malaysia, the Global Scuba Institute (GSI) serves as a dedicated hub for professional diving development in Southeast Asia. Unlike generalist dive centres, GSI focuses its expertise on the professional side of the industry, catering to those looking to transition from recreational diving into a career.

Whether you are on a gap year, looking for a career change, or are a dedicated enthusiast, the centre provides the structured environment required for high-level certification. It is an established training ground for those aiming to reach the top tiers of the SSI professional hierarchy.

GSI is an SSI Diamond and Instructor Training Centre, a distinction that marks it as a high-level facility for professional education. The centre was founded by Faza Raflis, one of Malaysia's most accomplished SSI instructors, alongside marine scientist and respected instructor Imogen Davies.

This leadership brings over a decade of teaching experience and a proven track record in professional training. The centre's expertise is recognised not only by the recreational community but also by specialised units, having provided training for the VAT69 Malaysian Police Commando.

The curriculum at GSI is designed for the professional diver, covering the entire SSI professional spectrum. You can begin your professional journey with the Divemaster course or progress through more advanced certifications including Rescue Diver.

The centre is a specialist in instructor development, offering the full SSI Instructor Training Course, the Hybrid SSI Instructor Training Course, and preparation for the Instructor Trainer level. For those looking to specialise further, the centre also facilitates Specialty Instructor and Assistant Instructor Trainer training.

The local waters support a variety of pelagic species and reef inhabitants. You may encounter blacktip reef shark (Carcharhinus melanopterus), eagle ray (Aetobatus), and great barracuda (Sphyraena barracuda) during your dives.

Sea turtles and sea snakes (Hydrophiinae) are also present in the region, adding to the biodiversity of the reef ecosystems. The marine life is consistent with the tropical environments found throughout the Malaysian coast.

The area is accessible for diving year-round, allowing for consistent training schedules regardless of the month.
