Superior Dive Sosua

Superior Dive Sosua is an established SDI 5 Star dive centre situated on the north coast of the Dominican Republic. Since opening in 2018, the centre has focused on providing a tailored experience for both recreational divers and those seeking professional certification.

The location in Sosua Bay is particularly well-suited for a wide range of diving, offering sites that are often overlooked. With the boat departures starting at 9am, the schedule typically allows for two dives per morning, returning to the centre for a surface interval before a second departure.

The centre is run by an experienced team of professionals dedicated to small-group diving. By avoiding large, rushed groups, the instructors ensure that every diver receives the attention required to maintain safety and enjoyment.

The reefs are rich with diverse life, including various species of reef fish such as blue tangs, yellowtail snapper, and wrasse. You will frequently encounter French grunt, grunts, and large schools of fish moving through the water column.

The hard and soft coral structures provide a home for many creatures, including sea fans, whip coral, and various sponges. Large barrel sponges and gorgonians decorate the walls, creating a complex habitat for resident angelfish and moray eels.

Macro life and interesting crustaceans are common throughout the bay. Keep a close eye on the reef for seahorses, pufferfish, and various crabs, as well as moray eels hiding in the crevices.

For those looking for larger pelagics, the area can host spotted eagle rays and, on rare occasions, nurse sharks. Sea turtles are also regularly sighted around the deeper walls and reef edges.

The diving in Sosua Bay is characterised by very little to no current, making it an accessible location for a variety of skill levels. The water temperature remains a consistent 27°C throughout the year.

Ocean conditions are generally best in the morning, which is when the swell and wind are typically at their minimum. This makes the morning departures ideal for visiting sites like the Airport Wall.
