Submarine Diving Centre

Submarine Diving Centre, also known as Into The Deeps, is one of Sri Lanka's longest-standing diving operations. Founded in 1991, the centre has spent over three decades establishing itself as a reliable hub for divers seeking both reef exploration and wreck diving.

The centre operates primarily from Unawatuna, situated directly on the beach, with extended operations reaching up to Trincomalee. This dual location allows you to experience the different marine environments the island has to offer, from the southern coast to the northern waters.

The centre is a PADI 5 Star facility led by Dilsara N. Koralage, a third-generation PADI IDC Staff instructor. This deep-rooted family history in Sri Lankan diving brings a high level of local knowledge and professional stability to the operation.

Safety and a personalised approach are central to their service, with small groups limited to between 2 and 5 divers per guide. This ensures you receive focused attention whether you are completing your first certification or training for a professional role.

Submarine Diving Centre offers a comprehensive catalogue of PADI programmes. For beginners, they provide Discover Scuba Diving, Scuba Diver, and Open Water Diver courses. For those looking to progress, they offer Advanced Open Water Diver, Deep Diver, and Night Diver specialties.

Professional training is a core part of their curriculum, with courses ranging from Rescue Diver and EFR to Divemaster and Assistant Instructor. They also host specialist training such as PADI Wreck Diver, Peak Performance Buoyancy, and Photography, alongside ReActivate programmes for those returning to the water.

The centre provides a full range of rental kit for those who do not wish to carry their own equipment. Nitrox is available for divers looking to extend their bottom time on multi-dive days.

For those diving in Unawatuna, dive computers are available as an additional option. On-site facilities include refreshments such as tea, coffee, and snacks to recharge between dives.

The local waters are home to a variety of large pelagics and reef inhabitants. You will regularly encounter sea turtles, parrotfish, and various species of tropical reef fish. Large schools of fish are a common sight around the pinnacles and wrecks.

On the sandy bottoms and around the wreck structures, you can find Southern stingrays and other ray species. Lionfish are also frequently observed in the area.

Macro life and smaller inhabitants add further interest to the dives, including various species of reef fish and stingrays that frequent the seabed.
