Poseidon Diving Station, Ltd.

With five decades of experience operating in Sri Lanka, Poseidon Diving Station has established itself as a cornerstone of the local diving community. As a PADI 5 Star Instructor Development Centre (IDC), the station provides a high level of professional training and expertise for both recreational divers and aspiring professionals.

The centre operates from two distinct locations to suit different seasonal requirements. You can dive the west coast from Hikkaduwa between November and April, or head to the east coast in Trincomalee from April to October to take advantage of the local conditions.

The instruction team is comprised of highly qualified PADI professionals capable of guiding you through every level of certification. To ensure personalized attention and a safe environment, the centre maintains a strict ratio of no more than five divers per guide.

Communication is straightforward thanks to a multilingual team. Instructors are able to provide instruction and guidance in English, German, Russian, Sinhala, and Tamil, making the centre accessible to a wide range of international divers.

The course catalogue is extensive, covering the full spectrum of PADI certifications. You can begin your journey with Discover Scuba Diving, PADI Scuba Diver, or the Open Water Diver course, before progressing through Advanced Open Water and Rescue Diver levels.

For those looking to specialise, the centre offers several PADI Specialty courses, including Nitrox, Deep Diver, Wreck Diver, and Night Diver. They also provide training in Peak Performance Buoyancy, Underwater Navigator, and Digital Underwater Photographer. Professional divers can train here through the Divemaster and IDC programmes.

The centre provides a full range of professional dive kit for hire, ensuring you have everything required for your dives. For those who prefer to use their own equipment, the facility is well-equipped to support your needs.

Nitrox is available on-site for divers looking to extend their bottom times. The centre also maintains high safety standards with dedicated oxygen provision available for emergency use.

The reefs are teeming with a diverse array of tropical fish. You will regularly encounter schools of fusiliers, jack, and sweetlips, alongside larger predators such as barracuda, groupers, and triggerfish. For those visiting the rocky formations, look out for moray eels, lionfish, and stonefish.

Pelagic sightings include stingrays, leopard rays, and occasionally oceanic whitetip sharks. Near the reef flats and rocky areas, you can also find pufferfish, butterflyfish, angelfish, and parrotfish.

Macro life is abundant for the observant diver. The sites are excellent for finding nudibranchs, various species of molluscs, and anemones hosting clownfish.

The local habitat is also a frequent haunt for sea turtles, particularly around sites like Turtle Rock and Wallduwa.

Diving in Sri Lanka is highly seasonal. The best time to visit Hikkaduwa on the west coast is from November to April, while the east coast around Trincomalee is best experienced from April to October.
