Eight senses

This is an aparthotel for two, rather than a full-service resort built around restaurants, bars and a timetable. You get a private apartment with its own entrance, a kitchen and outdoor space, so the evening can run at your pace: shower, cold drink from the fridge, then a proper sit-down without having to dress for dinner straight away.

Couples will find the format particularly straightforward. The property does not accept children, and the single-bedroom accommodation is arranged for a maximum of two guests. Air conditioning, a sofa and a seating area make the apartment practical when you want to stay in, while the garden and sun terrace give you somewhere beyond the room to take the weight off your feet.

Eight Senses sits in Parikia, on Paros, with Parikia Beach about 0.35 miles away on foot. That is close enough for an easy swim or a change of scenery, while the centre of town remains within reach for eating, drinking and a wander through the streets.

The Archaeological Museum of Paros is about 0.75 miles away. You can also reach the Venetian Harbour and Castle, around 6 miles from the property, and several other beaches by car: Delfini Beach is about 0.8 miles away, while Livadia, Parasporos and Marchello are roughly 1.3, 1.5 and 2.6 miles away respectively.

For a meal or a drink outside the apartment, To Spitiko is about 0.6 miles away on foot. The Dubliner, Entropy Bar Paros and Alga are also within roughly 0.3 to 0.5 miles. Paros National Airport is about 5 miles away by road, making the final leg of the journey relatively short by island standards.

The accommodation is a one-bedroom apartment, and the appeal is the space to organise your own evening rather than simply having a bed and a kettle. A private entrance leads into a layout with a sleeping area, sofa and separate seating space, so you can sit down without turning the bed into the living room. The balcony and terrace open towards the garden view.

The kitchen is properly useful for a self-catering stay, with a stovetop, refrigerator, coffee machine and kitchenware. That means chilled water when you return tired, coffee before an early start, and the option of keeping dinner simple when restaurant plans have lost their charm. There is also a flat-screen TV and free WiFi in the room.

Air conditioning matters on a warm Greek evening, particularly when you are trying to sleep rather than replaying the day's dive in your head. The private bathroom has a shower, towels and a hairdryer. Upper-floor access is by stairs only, so the apartment suits you best if a few steps with your bags are not an issue.

The property's outdoor areas are the main place to slow down. You have a garden, a sun terrace, outdoor furniture, a balcony and a terrace, with the garden view providing a quieter alternative to heading straight back into Parikia. It is the sort of arrangement that lets you sit outside with a coffee or a book without needing an organised activity to justify the afternoon.

Parikia Beach is close enough for a second dip when you still have some energy left, and the other nearby beaches give you options if you have a car. For a cultural change of pace, the Archaeological Museum of Paros is within walking distance, while the island's historic sites and the Venetian Harbour and Castle provide reasons to leave the lounger behind.

There is no need to build the day around the property. You can use the apartment as a comfortable base, choose your own beach or museum stop, then return to the garden and let the island do the entertaining.

Free public parking is available on site, with no reservation required. Car hire is also available, which is useful if you want to reach the beaches and sights beyond Parikia rather than relying on the nearest shore.

Check-in runs from 15:00 to 23:00, and you need to tell the property your expected arrival time in advance. Check-out is available at any time. The property is non-smoking, does not allow parties or events, and does not accept pets.

Children are not accepted, and cots and extra beds are not available, so this is an adults-only choice in practical terms. Free WiFi is available in the apartment. Paros National Airport is about 5 miles away by road; arrange your onward travel around your arrival time and the property's check-in window.
