Located in Vari, AquaTec has established itself as a highly specialised hub for divers looking to move beyond recreational boundaries. Since its founding in 2006, the centre has focused on bridging the gap between standard autonomous diving and the rigorous requirements of scientific fieldwork.

Recognised by the Ministry of Merchant Marine, the centre operates with a professional approach to training and logistical support. It serves as a base for both skill development and practical environmental research, making it a distinct destination for those interested in the more technical and academic sides of the sport.

The team is led by Aretí Kominoú, a professional diver since 2006 who teaches up to the Trimix level. Working alongside her is Nikos Karatzas, an instructor involved in diving training since the mid-1990s. Nikos is a CMAS 'Scientific Diver' instructor and a scientific collaborator with the Department of Geology and Geoenvironment at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.

This academic connection informs the centre's approach to training. Rather than focusing solely on recreational skills, the instructors integrate methodologies used by working scientists, such as advanced documentation and imaging techniques.

AquaTec provides a comprehensive range of training through the CMAS affiliation. For those starting their journey, they offer autonomous diving training at all levels, while more advanced divers can access specialised technical programmes including Trimix.

The centre is particularly noted for its niche scientific curriculum. This includes training in underwater photogrammetry, underwater documentation, and imaging, as well as the official CMAS 'Scientific Diver' programme. They also provide specialised training in search and recovery and public safety diving.
