Bluforia

Bluforia is situated in Cala Gonone, a gateway to the Gulf of Orosei in Sardinia. This area is defined by its dramatic rocky landscapes and is home to the largest marine cave system in Europe, making it a premier destination for divers looking to push their boundaries.

The centre caters to a wide spectrum of diving, from those completing their first Discover Scuba Diving course to advanced technical divers planning complex cave or deep wreck penetrations. Whether you are exploring shallow reefs or planning a deep Trimix dive, the local topography provides a diverse range of environments.

The team at Bluforia is composed of highly qualified professionals, including Full Cave instructors, CCR Instructor Trainers, and Hypoxic Trimix Instructor Trainers. Their expertise extends to marine biologists and professional underwater photographers, ensuring a high level of technical and scientific knowledge is available on-site.

Instruction is provided through multiple major agencies, including PADI, PSAI, TDI, and RAID. The staff is multilingual, capable of conducting training and guiding in English, Italian, Spanish, Catalan, French, Chinese, and Arabic.

The training programme is extensive, covering the entire progression from Discover Scuba Diving and Open Water Diver through to Divemaster and Instructor levels. For those looking to specialise, the centre offers PADI specialties such as Advanced Open Water, Deep Diver, Wreck Diver, Night Diver, and Underwater Navigation.

Technical training is a core focus, with courses ranging from Intro to Tech and Decompression to advanced Trimix (60m, 80m, and 100m) and Helitrox. The centre also provides advanced training in sidemount, full cave exploration, and various rebreather certifications, including No Deco, Advanced, and technical expedition mixed gas rebreather courses.

The centre provides a full range of rental kit, including regulators, wetsuits, fins, and BCDs. For technical divers, specialized equipment such as sidemount configurations and rebreathers is available. They are an official training centre and retailer for KISS Rebreathers in Italy.

On-site facilities include the availability of Nitrox and specialized gas blending services. For those looking to enhance their underwater mobility, underwater scooters (DPVs) are also available for hire.

The rocky reefs and underwater passages are home to a variety of larger species, including groupers, moray eels, scorpionfish, and triggerfish. You will also frequently encounter large octopus, mantis shrimps, and spiny lobsters among the formations.

In the more sheltered areas and caves, the biodiversity is high, with sightings of various species of sea bream and corvine. The sandy areas near the reefs provide a habitat for different types of crustaceans.

For those with an eye for macro life, the area is particularly noted for its colourful nudibranchs. These molluscs inhabit the galleries and crevices, adding significant colour to the underwater landscape.

The Gulf of Orosei is characterised by its complex underwater topography, including extensive cave networks and deep-water wrecks. Divers should be aware of the halocline present in several of the major cave systems, such as Bel Torrente.

While many sites are accessible for recreational divers, the deeper wrecks and cave lines require specific technical certifications and experience with overhead environments.
