Kanyon Diving

Kanyon Diving is a professional operation based in the Kaş harbour of Antalya, Turkey. Established in 2016 by Erhan Onat, the centre draws on 20 years of experience in the Mediterranean diving industry to provide structured, safe, and environmentally conscious excursions.

The centre serves as a gateway to some of the most diverse underwater topography in the region. From the deep, current-swept wrecks to the shallow, sunlit archaeological sites, the variety of the Kaş coastline is fully utilised through their organised dive trips.

The centre is affiliated with both SSI and CMAS, ensuring that training and dive standards meet international requirements. The team is experienced in managing a wide range of diver profiles, from those taking their first breath underwater to seasoned professionals.

Instruction and dive direction are conducted in English and Turkish. This bilingual approach ensures clear communication regarding safety briefings, site descriptions, and technical procedures during the dive.

The training programme is comprehensive, covering the full spectrum of diver development through SSI and CMAS certifications. Beginners can start with 'Deneme Dalışı' (Discovery Dives) or standard beginner courses to build their foundational skills.

For those looking to progress, the centre offers Advanced Diver courses and various specialised training modules. The curriculum extends to professional levels, including Divemaster training, for those pursuing a career in the industry.

The centre operates its own specialised vessel, the Calipso1, which has a capacity for 25 divers. The boat is designed to facilitate comfortable day trips, featuring both upper and forward sunbathing terraces for relaxing between dives.

On board, you will find essential amenities including toilets, a cabin, and both hot and cold showers for rinsing off after the dive. The Calipso1 is used for a variety of trip types, including standard day dives and night dives.

Kanyon Diving provides a full range of equipment for hire, including wetsuits, regulators, and other essential kit. This allows divers to travel light or easily replace any components of their personal gear.

The centre maintains a strict policy regarding equipment hygiene and maintenance, ensuring that all rental items are kept in good working order for every diver.

The marine life in the Kaş area is diverse, with many sites offering encounters with larger pelagics. You can often spot groupers, jacks, and various species of sharks, including mako sharks, patrolling the deeper sections of the reefs and walls.

Sea turtles are a regular presence across many of the shallower reefs and plateaus. In the seagrass meadows and rocky crevices, you will find pufferfish, rays, and various species of wrasse.

For those interested in macro life and smaller organisms, the caves and crevices are home to red shrimp, sea anemones, and Neptune's lace. The archaeological sites and rocky reefs also host various sponges and Mediterranean sea squirts.

Diving conditions in Kaş are highly variable depending on the specific site. Currents can range from none at all in sheltered tunnels to very strong when diving around wrecks and vertical walls.

The topography varies from shallow sandy plateaus and reef flats to steep walls and deep-water wrecks, requiring divers to be mindful of their buoyancy and depth management according to their certification level.
