Canakkale Dive Center

Çanakkale Balıkadamlar Dalış ve Eğitim Merkezi serves as a gateway to one of the most historically significant maritime corridors in the world. Situated in the centre of Çanakkale, the school focuses on the unique underwater landscape of the Dardanelles and the Gallipoli Historical National Park.

Since its founding in 2003, the centre has evolved into a dedicated training hub, operating with its own premises and boats to facilitate trips to the local wrecks. It offers a blend of historical exploration and technical skill development, making it a destination for those looking to connect with the past through diving.

The centre operates as a family-run business with a focus on professional instruction and well-maintained equipment. It holds affiliations with both PADI and CMAS, ensuring a wide range of training standards are met for international divers.

In addition to standard recreational courses, the centre provides specialised lifeguard training, including Bronze and Silver Lifeguard certificates, in collaboration with the MAYİS Cankurtaran Eğitim Merkezi. This emphasis on safety and professional rescue skills is a core part of their educational offering.

The training programme is extensive, covering everything from introductory levels like Scuba Diver and Open Water Diver to professional tracks such as Divemaster and Assistant Instructor. Divers can progress through the CMAS system with 1-star, 2-star, and 3-star certifications.

Specialised skills are a significant part of the curriculum, with courses available in Nitrox, Deep Diving, Wreck Diving, and Navigation. For those looking to refine their technique, Peak Performance Buoyancy and Underwater Photography or Videography courses are also offered. The centre also provides technical training such as Advanced Rebreather Diver and Altitude Diving.

Dives are organised using the centre's own boats, which provide direct transfers to the various dive sites across the Dardanelles. These vessels allow for efficient access to the historical wrecks that define this region.

The centre maintains a full range of rental kit for divers, including wetsuits, regulators, and fins. All equipment is serviced and cleaned by expert teams to ensure reliability for every dive. On-site facilities support both training and exploration, providing a professional environment for preparing for trips to the wrecks or the reef sites.

The seabed around the wreck sites and the Kömür limanı reef is home to various sessile life, including sponges and various coral species. Red soft corals are particularly noted on deeper wrecks like the Captain Francos.

In the more varied habitats of the bay, you can encounter a range of marine creatures amongst the reef structures. The area supports diverse life including various species of sponges and reef-dwelling organisms that colonise the historical wrecks.

The Dardanelles can present challenging conditions, specifically at the Çamburnu site, which is known for having a strong current. This site is recommended for experienced 2-star divers who are comfortable managing drift.

Other sites like Havuzlar Mevkii and Baykuş Feneri offer more predictable environments suitable for divers of all experience levels.
