Malongane Beach Resort

Malongane Beach Resort is located in the heart of the Ponta do Ouro Marine Reserve in Southern Mozambique. The resort sits directly on a long sandy beach, providing immediate access to some of the most diverse reef systems in the region.

With more than 30 reefs located just offshore—the closest being only 300 metres from the beach—the area is a significant destination for reef exploration. The location is ideal for those looking to combine diving with other ocean activities like surfing, kite surfing, or deep-sea fishing.

As a PADI 5 Star Dive Resort, the centre provides a structured environment for both recreational diving and formal training. The resort is designed to accommodate families and groups, offering a relaxed atmosphere alongside professional dive operations.

The dive centre is the sole provider in the Malongane area, positioned just 50 metres from the launch site. This proximity ensures a streamlined transition from the resort to the water for your daily dives.

The centre offers a full range of PADI training programmes. You can begin your journey with the Open Water Diver course or progress through more advanced qualifications such as the Advanced Open Water Diver course.

Beyond basic certifications, the resort is equipped to handle various other diving qualifications, making it a suitable base for divers looking to expand their technical skills or specific specialties.

The centre is situated just 50 metres from the launch area, allowing for easy access to the water. Divers can take advantage of the resort's proximity to the reefs for efficient dive planning and execution.

Accommodation at the resort ranges from rustic log huts and decked tents to more substantial beach chalets and self-catering options. For those preferring a simpler setup, shaded campsites are available, though guests should note that the resort operates on a 5Amp power supply, meaning high-draw appliances are not permitted.

The reefs are home to a variety of large pelagics and charismatic species. You can regularly encounter bottlenose dolphins, sharks, manta rays, and turtles while exploring the different reef profiles.

During the period from July to November, the area becomes a significant site for observing humpback whales. This seasonal presence adds a unique dimension to the marine life available to divers and ocean enthusiasts.

The marine environment is supported by a healthy ecosystem of reef life, providing a constant backdrop of movement and colour across the 30 available dive sites.

Diving in the Ponta do Ouro Marine Reserve is subject to the local conditions of the Mozambique coast. The reefs are situated very close to the shore, with some sites only 300 metres offshore, though divers should always be mindful of local swell and currents when planning their entries.

As the resort is located within a protected marine reserve, the area is managed to preserve the natural habitat, though bottom fishing is strictly prohibited within the reserve boundaries.
