The road from Maputo is paved, but the roads in and around Ponta do Ouro are sandy; a 4x4 is the sensible choice if you plan to explore neighbouring areas. Durban is around 5.5 hours away by road and Johannesburg around 8.5 hours.

Check-in runs from 14:00 to 19:00, with your expected arrival time to be arranged in advance. Check-out is from 10:00 to 11:00. Entry to the property is closed between 01:00 and 04:00, so late-night arrivals and returns need planning rather than optimism.
