ONE GT Grand Cayman is an urban hotel for divers who want more than a bed between boat trips. You stay in the heart of George Town, with contemporary suites, private balconies and fully equipped kitchens, so the evening can be as independent or as sociable as you choose.

The property is due to open in 2026 and has 95 suites. It is built for both short stays and longer residencies, with a rooftop pool, restaurants, a bar and spaces where locals are also welcome to eat and gather. In other words, this is a town hotel with somewhere to sit once the fins are back in the bag.

Family rooms and larger suites make it workable for a group, while the studios keep things simpler for two. Sea views and balconies add a useful extra when your main plan is to do very little before dinner.

Spotts Beach is about 4.7 miles away. That is close enough for a beach outing, but not the sort of distance to describe as a stroll in flip-flops; you will want transport, particularly with snorkelling gear in tow.

The surrounding island gives you plenty to do by car. Mastic Trail is about 4.4 miles away, Frank Sound Community Park and the Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park are each around 5 miles away, and the airport is roughly 11 miles by road, around a 26-minute drive. George Town is the practical base here: less sand between your toes at the front door, more access to the island beyond it.

The useful difference here is space that works for real travellers, not just a chair placed beside a bed for the photograph. Every room has air conditioning, a private bathroom, free WiFi and a balcony, with sea views available in the accommodation offering. The soundproof rooms should also help when you need proper sleep rather than another conversation from the corridor at an inconvenient hour.

For two, a Standard Studio keeps things straightforward, while the Deluxe Studio gives you more room to spread out after a day of salt, sun and kit bags. The fully equipped kitchens are the practical feature: you can keep drinks cold, sort out a light meal or avoid dressing for dinner when your legs have had enough. Room service is available as well, should the kitchen remain untouched.

Travelling with family or friends, look at the Bloom Suite with its den, the Superior King Suite with a sofa bed, or the Two-Bedroom Suite. The latter gives two separate bedrooms, while the largest suites make more sense when several people need room to live rather than merely sleep. Children of any age are welcome, and the property also offers family rooms and babysitting services.

You have three restaurants on site, covering enough ground to keep dinner from becoming a daily committee meeting. Perle serves French-Mediterranean food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Byū takes the same three-meal rhythm to the rooftop with an Asian-Caribbean menu.

Café Bellini is the more informal option, combining an Italian café with a bakery and serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. A bar and a coffee house are also part of the property, so you can go straight from the pool to a drink without organising an expedition across town.

Breakfast is available to take away, with champagne, local specialities and fresh pastries also part of the breakfast offering. Breakfast in your room, packed lunches, room service and special-diet menus are available, which matters when the day's first departure starts earlier than your appetite. Live music, outdoor dining and evening entertainment add some life to the night without making every meal a performance.

The rooftop infinity-edge pool is the obvious place to spend the afternoon when you want water without putting a mask on. A second pool, the third-floor oasis pool, gives you another option, while the sun terrace has loungers, chairs and umbrellas for the serious business of drying off slowly.

For recovery rather than exertion, there is a sauna, a fitness centre, fitness classes and yoga classes. Massage services include full-body, couples, head, neck, back, foot and hand treatments. That is a fairly convincing menu for the day when your shoulders have begun filing formal complaints.

If sitting still is not your style, bicycle rental, cycling, hiking and golf are available either at the property or nearby, depending on the activity. Cooking classes, walking and bike tours, local-culture classes, temporary art galleries and themed evenings provide alternatives for a non-diving day. The outdoor fireplace, live music and evening entertainment cover the less energetic end of the programme.

Owen Roberts International Airport is about 11 miles from the hotel by car, with a typical driving time of around 26 minutes. A shuttle service is available and can be arranged with the hotel. Private parking and valet parking are available on site, and the property has a lift, wheelchair access, lower bathroom sinks and toilets with grab rails.

Check-in runs from 3 pm to 11 pm, while check-out is from 11 am to midday.
