Beauséjour Guest House is a small collection of independent holiday homes on the heights of Pointe-Noire, in western Guadeloupe. Each home has its own entrance, outdoor space and private jacuzzi, so you can keep your evenings to yourselves rather than sharing them with a lobby full of televisions and suitcases.

The setting is built around nature: garden views, sea views and the surrounding forest, with the Guadeloupe National Park and the Caribbean visible from the property. You get the useful bits for a diving stay too: air conditioning, a fan, WiFi, a proper kitchen and somewhere to sit outside. It is a good fit if you prefer a self-contained base for two, or need more room for a small group.

You are in Pointe-Noire, on Guadeloupe’s Côte-sous-le-Vent, between Deshaies and Bouillante. The property sits around 300 metres from the sea and about ten minutes from the Route de la Traversée, placing beaches, forest and the island’s western coast within reach by car.

Caraibe Beach is around 1.8 miles away by road, with a journey of about five minutes. Marigot Beach is roughly 2.9 miles by road, while Plage de Malendure is about 5 miles away and takes around eleven minutes by car. That last beach is the practical reference point for the Cousteau Reserve area.

You can also reach Habitation Côte sous-le-Vent in about five minutes by car, and Cascade le Saut de l’Acomat in around four minutes. Restaurants such as Le Reflet, An Ba Tol la and Parc Aquacole are within roughly 2 miles by road, so a car will make the coastline and evening meals considerably easier.

Think of these as homes rather than hotel rooms. The one-bedroom houses suit a couple who want a private base with room to cook, eat and sit outside; the two-bedroom house makes more sense when four people are sharing without wanting to organise every evening around a single bedroom. The homes are detached, and the ground-floor layout gives easy access to the garden and outdoor dining area.

Inside, you have a kitchen with a hob, oven, microwave, fridge, toaster, kettle, coffee machine and kitchenware. There is also a dining table, sofa, seating area and washing machine, which is handy when swimwear has started to take over the luggage. A private bathroom includes a shower, towels and hairdryer.

Air conditioning and a fan help with the warm, salty end of the day, while the mosquito net is a welcome practical detail in a tropical setting. The terrace or balcony opens towards garden, mountain or sea views, depending on the accommodation. The private jacuzzi is attached to each home, giving you somewhere to unwind without turning relaxation into a communal activity.

This is self-catering accommodation, not a resort with a restaurant schedule. The kitchen lets you sort breakfast, packed food and dinner at your own pace, with a fridge, oven, hob, microwave and dining area ready for the job.

Breakfast can be delivered to your room on request, and dinners can be brought directly to your terrace. Traditional dishes are available, giving you the option of eating local food without having to drive out again when your legs have had enough for one day.

There is no bar listed on the property, so plan your drinks accordingly. The terrace and barbecue are the useful evening assets here: cook outside, eat outdoors and let the sea and mountain views do the scenery work.

The private jacuzzi is the main event when you are not in the water, at the table or behind the wheel. Each home has one, and the property also offers a spa area with beauty treatments, body treatments and massages, including back, neck, feet, head and couples massages. Sun loungers, umbrellas and a sun terrace give you somewhere to stretch out between outings.

For a more active afternoon, walking tours, hiking, snorkelling, canoeing, windsurfing and fishing are available nearby. Boat trips are also possible, while the property’s own suggestions include a guided visit to the town and a visit to the botanical garden. Plage de Malendure and the Réserve Cousteau area are close enough to combine with another coastal stop rather than turning the day into a one-attraction expedition.

Back at the house, the garden, outdoor dining area and board games keep things simple. There are no forced activities and no evening programme to dodge; you choose the pace, which is often exactly what a diver needs.

Private parking is available on site, with no reservation needed, and WiFi is free in the rooms. Car hire is available, which is worth considering for reaching the beaches, restaurants and dive clubs along the coast. Pointe-à-Pitre Le Raizet Airport is about 25 miles away by road, with a drive of roughly 48 minutes; Baillif Airport is around 20 miles away and about 43 minutes by car.

Check-in runs from 16:00 to 19:30 and check-out from 07:00 to 10:00. You need to arrange your arrival time in advance and show photo identification and a credit card at check-in. Entry to the property is closed between 22:00 and 07:00, and quiet hours apply during the same period, so late-night comings and goings are not part of the plan.

Children of any age are welcome, with cots available on request for children aged two and under; extra beds are not available. Smoking and parties are not allowed, and pets are not accepted. Booking arrangements include an agreement to sign before arrival and payment by bank transfer before the stay, so read the accommodation conditions carefully rather than treating this like a conventional hotel booking.

The hotel operates as an ecolodge in a natural setting above Pointe-Noire, surrounded by forest and looking towards the Caribbean and the Guadeloupe National Park. The homes are designed as separate wooden units, with the garden and outdoor areas forming part of the stay rather than decoration behind a large main building.

That approach suits the location: you stay close to the Côte-sous-le-Vent’s beaches, waterfalls and protected landscapes, while keeping the scale of the accommodation small. No formal environmental certification is attached to the property.
