Marin Plongee

Marin Plongée is a professional dive centre situated in the Marina of Le Marin, Martinique. The centre is established as a human-scale operation, focusing on direct communication and a relaxed atmosphere for all levels of divers.

Operating seven days a week by reservation, the centre provides access to the diverse coral reefs located between Le Marin and Sainte Luce. Whether you are looking for a single exploration dive or a structured training programme, the centre organises outings to suit your schedule.

The team is led by highly qualified instructors, including Matthieu, a PADI Staff Instructor and FFESSM MF2, and Caro, a PADI Divemaster and FFESSM MF2. They are joined by Nico, a BEES1 instructor, ensuring a high level of expertise across both French and international training standards.

Instruction is tailored to the individual, with specific attention given to children's programmes for those aged 5 or 6 and above. The centre maintains a small group philosophy, typically limiting outings to one or two small palanquées to ensure comfort and space for every diver.

A comprehensive range of training is available through both PADI and FFESSM/ANMP frameworks. For those following the international route, courses range from PADI Discover Scuba Diver and Open Water Diver through to Advanced Open Water, Rescue Diver, and the professional Divemaster level.

For divers preferring the French system, the centre offers FFESSM training from Niveau 1 through to Niveau 4, as well as ANMP Carte Découverte. Technical training is also available on-site, covering specialized modules for more advanced divers.

The centre operates the FUSION 26, a fishing-style vessel equipped with a 250CV Yamaha engine installed in October 2023. This power allows for rapid transit between the marina and the dive sites, making it possible to complete multiple rotations in a single day.

The boat is designed for diver comfort, featuring a custom deck plan, a rear steering console, and a central cylinder rack. A large bimini provides effective shade from the sun during the trip, and refreshments including water and fruit juice are provided on board.

The centre provides a full range of rental equipment, primarily utilising Aqualung products. This includes Wave and HD Pro BCDs, Calypso regulators fitted with DIN connections, and 3mm or 4mm shorties.

All equipment is maintained to a high standard, with wetsuits laundered after every use in disinfectant and regulators and mouthpieces cleaned using ecological methods. For those looking to capture their dives, the centre offers underwater photography services, provided you bring a digital storage device.

The reefs are home to a vibrant community of fish, including parrotfish, damselfish, trumpetfish, and juvenile captain fish. You will frequently encounter porcupinefish, manioc fish, and various species of pompanos during your dives.

The hard and soft coral structures provide a rich backdrop, featuring various corals and sea fans that support a dense ecosystem. Turtles are also a regular presence in these waters, adding to the biodiversity of the reef.

Macro life and crustaceans are well-represented, with spider crabs and red-banded lobsters found amongst the reef structure. For those interested in smaller details, the environment supports various species of crabs and other small reef inhabitants.

The diving environment is characterised by warm tropical waters and varying depths, with most sites ranging between 0 and 40 metres. The centre offers flexible scheduling with departures at 8:00, 10:00, and 14:00, as well as dedicated night dive slots.

While specific current and swell data are site-dependent, the variety of locations—from protected bays like Pointe Borgnèse to more open sites—allows the instructors to select the most suitable environment for your certification level and experience.
