You are in Marigot Bay, Saint Lucia, on the hotel’s private grounds above the bay. Roseau Beach is about a five-minute walk away, and the same short walk brings you towards water sports, a bank, an ATM, shops, restaurants and waterfront bars. You are close enough to walk out for a drink, but the accommodation itself is not presented as a beach hotel with the sand at the door.

For eating and drinking locally, Roots Beach Bar is about 0.4 miles away, while Rum Cave is roughly 0.5 miles away. Pirate Bay Marigot is about 1 mile away, with Juliettas around 0.8 miles away. Those distances give you a choice after the day’s exertions without making every evening depend on a car.

George F. L. Charles Airport is about 9 miles away by road, with Hewanorra International Airport around 35 miles away. Marigot Bay itself is known for its small-village scale, with restaurants, bars and shops gathered close to the waterfront.

The accommodation works particularly well when you want more than a bed and a bathroom. Every suite has air conditioning, a private bathroom with a walk-in shower, a balcony or terrace, a dining area and a kitchen with a refrigerator, microwave and kettle. That refrigerator earns its keep when you return hot, thirsty and no longer interested in discussing dinner plans.

For a couple who mainly want a comfortable base with a strong view, the King Suite with Sea View or King Suite with Ocean View keeps things straightforward. If you value room to spread out, sit down properly and make use of a kitchen, the one-bedroom and deluxe apartment categories are the more natural choice. The balcony apartment is the obvious pick when outdoor space matters as much as the sleeping area.

The rooms combine air conditioning with a fan, and soundproofing is included. Beds and comfort are a clear part of the accommodation’s appeal, while the blackout details are less important than the simple fact that you can close the door, cool the room and recover in peace. Private entrances, wardrobes, linens, bathrobes and hairdryers are also provided, with daily housekeeping taking care of the reset.

Breakfast is served at The Villa @ Marigot Bay between 8.00 and 9.30 in the morning, with a continental format. It is included with some of the accommodation categories and available as an additional option with others, so the exact arrangement depends on the room you choose. The breakfast window is not designed around an especially early departure, which is worth bearing in mind if your morning starts before most people have found the coffee.

There is a bar on site, along with tea and coffee-making facilities in the accommodation. Fruit, ice, water, lemonade, coffee, tea, biscuits and sweets are available as complimentary touches, while wine and champagne can also be arranged. The property does not present a full restaurant-and-bar programme, so the kitchen in your suite or apartment is more than decoration: it gives you an alternative to eating out every night.

A barbecue is available for an additional charge, and grocery deliveries can be arranged. When you would rather leave the cooking to somebody else, the nearby waterfront gives you several local options, including Rum Cave, Pirate Bay Marigot and Juliettas. In other words, you can keep the evening at home or walk out for dinner without turning it into an expedition.

The outdoor pool sits in the garden beside a hammock area and a sun terrace with loungers and umbrellas. That is the main post-dive decision here: swim, stretch out, or do absolutely nothing until the light changes over the bay. An open-air bath adds another way to cool down, and the property also has a shared lounge with television and board games for a quieter evening indoors.

A stop at a supermarket can be arranged as part of the journey, which is useful when you are taking an apartment with a kitchen. Car hire is also available on site, and directions can be provided if you are driving yourself.

Check-in runs from 15.00 to 21.00, and you need to tell the property your expected arrival time. Check-out is by 12.00. A 24-hour front desk, private and express check-in, luggage storage, concierge support and a tour desk cover the less glamorous but genuinely useful parts of travel. Free parking is available on site, and street parking is also possible in the designated areas.

Children of any age are welcome, with cots available on request for children aged two and under. There are no extra beds, and children aged three and over are charged as adults under the property’s policy. Pets are not allowed. The apartments use UK-style sockets with a 220-volt supply; converters and USB chargers are available in each apartment.
