PUNTA Diving

Punta Diving is situated in Betina, the gateway to the Kornati National Park on Murter Island. This location provides direct access to some of the most diverse underwater landscapes in the Adriatic, ranging from deep walls to historic wrecks.

The centre operates during the diving season from mid-May to the end of November. It serves as a base for divers looking to explore the crystalline waters of the archipelago, whether through relaxed reef dives or more demanding technical excursions.

The team is led by Leo Lusic, an SSI Trainer and technical specialist who oversees regulator maintenance and teaches Trimix and CCR diving. Joining him is Jere, an experienced skipper and CMAS instructor, alongside PADI Divemaster and gas management expert, who brings extensive local knowledge to the boat.

Administrative operations are managed by Ane Sandric, ensuring the logistics of your dives run smoothly. The staff communicates in Croatian, English, and German, making the centre accessible to a wide range of international divers.

Punta Diving offers a comprehensive SSI training programme. Beginners can start with Try Scuba, Basic Diver, or Open Water Diver courses, while those looking to progress can undertake Advanced Open Water Diver, Rescue Diver, and Divemaster training.

The centre is a significant hub for technical diving, offering specialised courses such as Nitrox, Deep Diving, Wreck Diving, Navigation, and Perfect Buoyancy. For advanced divers, they provide training in Dry Suit, XR Sidemount, XR Extended Range, CCR Diving, and Technical Extended Range.

The Punta 1 is a 9-metre monohull powered by a 330 CV Volvo diesel engine, capable of reaching speeds up to 40 knots. It has a capacity for 10 people, including the crew, and is equipped with onboard toilets and drinking water.

The vessel is used for various dive profiles, including day trips and night dives. Nitrox and Trimix are available for those requiring specialised gas blends during their outings.

The centre provides a range of rental equipment, including full kit, masks, snorkels, fins, and wetsuits. For those looking for specific technical support, the centre manages regulator servicing on-site.

Onshore, the centre functions as a full-service dive shop, offering quality diving clothing and equipment. The facility is designed to support both recreational divers and those pursuing advanced technical certifications.

The underwater scenery is defined by a rich variety of fixed life. You will encounter extensive fields of gorgonians, including yellow and red varieties, alongside colourful sponges and various types of fan corals that cover the walls and wrecks.

In the more sheltered areas and reefs, the seabed is populated by diverse marine life. Divers can observe various species of fish moving in large schools against the backdrop of the rocky terrain.

Macro life and larger inhabitants add detail to the dives. Look for moray eels, lobsters, cuttlefish, and conger eels tucked into the crevices of the reefs and wrecks. On certain sites, you may also encounter octopus and various species of sea urchins.

Diving in the area is subject to local weather patterns, and it is advisable to avoid certain sites, such as Kukuljari, when the Bura or Tramontana winds are blowing. Some sites, like Greben Miši, are known to experience regular strong currents coming from the north.

The Kornati archipelago offers a range of environments, from protected western sides with good moorings to more exposed eastern walls. Divers should always check the daily briefing for specific current and swell conditions before entering the water.
