Nautilus Diving Club

Nautilus Diving Club has been an established presence in the waters of Lefkas since the early 2000s. Located on Vassiliki beach, the centre has built a reputation through more than 1,250 completed courses, serving as a reliable base for both local and visiting divers.

The club operates an SSI-affiliated programme, providing a structured environment for those looking to progress from their first breath underwater to technical specialties. Its location allows for easy access to the island's varied topography, from sheltered bays to deep-sea walls.

The centre is built on over two decades of expertise, having guided thousands of divers through a wide range of underwater environments. The team focuses on professional instruction, ensuring that every diver, from a beginner in a quarry-style setting to an advanced explorer, receives appropriate guidance.

As an SSI affiliated centre, they offer a full spectrum of certifications. The staff is experienced in managing diverse groups, from those taking their first Try Scuba to those pursuing advanced skills like Dive Guide or Decompression Diving.

The training programme is comprehensive, covering the entire SSI progression. Beginners can start with Try Scuba, Basic Diver, Scuba Diver, or Open Water Diver. For those looking to expand their skills, the centre offers Advanced Adventurer, Perfect Buoyancy, and specialties such as Navigation, Night & Limited Visibility, and Diver Stress & Rescue.

More advanced divers can pursue technical and professional paths, including Enriched Air Nitrox, Decompression Diving, Deep Diving, and the Dive Guide course. The centre also offers specialised training in DPV (Underwater Scooter) and ECO Diving.

The fleet consists of three dedicated vessels. The Mola-Mola is the newest addition, featuring a diving platform, a fridge, a toilet, and a music system for a more comfortable experience on longer trips.

The Nautilus is a powerful, renovated RIB designed to handle the needs of the club, while the Thresher is a RIB specifically utilised for beginner divers and training courses.

The centre provides full equipment hire for divers who prefer not to carry their own kit. This includes all the essentials required for a comfortable dive, from regulators to wetsuits.

Nitrox is available for divers looking to extend their bottom time, with oxygen safety protocols maintained on site.

The marine life around Lefkas is diverse, with rocky reefs and walls providing habitats for large groupers, moray eels, and various species of snapper and sea bream. You can often find parrotfish and damselfish navigating the coral and sponge-covered structures.

Macro life is abundant for those with a keen eye. Divers can encounter various species of octopus, nudibranchs, shrimp, and sea anemones tucked into crevices and caves.

In the seagrass meadows and sandy patches, look for lionfish, starfish, and various species of wrasse. The presence of sponges and soft corals adds significant colour to the underwater landscape.

Seasonally, the waters offer the chance to see Caretta caretta turtles during the spring and autumn months.

Divers should be aware of varying conditions depending on the chosen site. Some locations, such as Light House and Sesula, are known for having strong currents, which are best tackled by experienced divers.

The topography varies from sheltered bays with shallow reefs to deep-sea walls and canyons, meaning sea states can change depending on your distance from the shore.
