Dive2gether

Located in Plakias on the south coast of Crete, Dive2gether operates as a PADI 5 Star IDC centre and an ECO PADI centre. The location is ideal for divers seeking calm, clear waters, as many of the local sites are naturally sheltered from the strong north winds that can affect the rest of the coastline.

The centre is uniquely integrated with the Mare Mundi field station, a functional research and education hub. This connection brings a scientific depth to the diving experience, offering opportunities to engage with marine biology and conservation through a professional, hands-on approach.

The team is composed of a young, international group of instructors and marine biologists. They provide instruction in English, German, Hungarian, Dutch, and Greek, ensuring that your training or guided dives are conducted in a language you are comfortable with.

Teaching is focused on small groups, with a guide-to-diver ratio of 4:1. This ensures a high level of individual attention, whether you are completing your first Open Water Diver course or working through the professional IDC pathway. The centre also runs a specialised 'Bootcamp' designed to support the development of future diving professionals.

The centre offers a comprehensive range of PADI courses, catering to all experience levels. Beginners can start with the Open Water Diver course, while those looking to expand their skills can progress through Advanced Open Water Diver, Rescue Diver, and specialty certifications such as PADI Deep Diver, Underwater Navigator, and Sidemount.

For professional divers, Dive2gether is an IDC centre, providing the full pathway from Divemaster through to Instructor Development. The IDC package includes two Specialty Instructor ratings and the EFR Instructor Course. The centre also provides EFR and Emergency Oxygen Provider training.

The Philomena is a custom-built motor cruiser designed specifically for diving, with a capacity for 14 divers. It is powered by a 350HP inboard main engine and includes a 30HP inboard backup engine, along with an electric bow thruster for precise manoeuvring at mooring sites.

On board, you will find a cabin featuring a sitting area, a toilet, and a dressing room. The deck is equipped with benches for guests and crew, and the boat includes dedicated diving equipment storage, tank racks, and luggage nets under the sunroof to keep your belongings dry. For longer trips, sandwiches, coffee, and tea are provided on board.

The Mediterranean habitat here is rich with diverse life. You will encounter various species of rockfish and predators, including scorpionfish, cardinalfish, squirrelfish, and damselfish. Larger pelagics and residents like groupers, dentex, and rays are also part of the local ecosystem.

Macro life is a significant draw for many divers. You can find a variety of nudibranchs, including the 'Greek goddess of the sea', as well as seahorses, many species of blenny, and various mollusks. The rocky crevices and seafloor are also home to octopuses, cuttlefish, and moray eels.

Fixed life provides a vibrant backdrop to your dives, with abundant feather stars, sea urchins, and hydropolyp colonies. In certain areas, you can find large elephant ear sponges and 'Sunset Cup' corals, while seagrass meadows support species like the common dentex and various rays.

The south coast of Crete offers excellent diving conditions, with many sites like Shinaria, Ammoudi, and Turkish Delight providing natural shelter from strong north winds. This makes the area particularly reliable for calm water even when conditions elsewhere are less favourable.

While most sites are sheltered, some locations like Doggy Rock Drop can experience unexpected underwater currents. It is always advisable to check the daily weather assessment with the team before heading out to ensure the safest and most enjoyable dive.
