The hard and soft coral structures provide the essential architecture for this ecosystem, with sightings of gorgonians, sea fans, and various table corals. These formations support a dense population of anthias and many other reef-dwelling species.

Macro life enthusiasts can look for octopus, scorpionfish, and various species of moray eel tucked into the reef crevices. The biodiversity extends to smaller inhabitants like glassfish and various species of wrasse that move through the coral gardens.

In the deeper waters and offshore reefs, the environment becomes a hunting ground for larger predators. Depending on the season, divers may encounter hammerhead sharks, alongside regular sightings of barracuda, tuna, and large carangide.

Diving conditions in the area vary significantly depending on the specific site. Offshore reefs like Elphinstone are known for experiencing moderate to strong currents, requiring a higher level of buoyancy control and experience. In contrast, sites like Banana Reef offer calmer conditions and weaker currents, making them suitable for training and less experienced divers.

Visibility is generally excellent across the region, frequently ranging between 20 and 40 metres at key sites such as Habili Nakari and Elphinstone Reef. This clarity allows for exceptional viewing of the deep walls and coral pinnacles.
