Mister Jump

Mister Jump is situated on the volcanic island of Ustica, just north of Palermo in Sicily. The centre is positioned in the heart of the island near the main square, a short walk from the harbour and surrounded by local amenities.

Operating from April to October, the centre focuses on the diverse marine environments that the island's protected status helps preserve. Whether you are looking for day trips to explore the local reefs or interested in night diving, the centre provides the logistical support needed for the island's varied underwater topography.

The team is composed of highly qualified and experienced instructors and guides. They offer instruction in Italian, English, and French, ensuring clear communication for international divers.

Beyond standard dive guiding, the centre provides a space for theoretical learning and reviewing dive media in the afternoons. They also maintain partnerships with local residences and hotels, such as Ca'Serta and Stella Marina Residence, to assist with island accommodation.

Mister Jump offers a comprehensive range of training through PADI and ISDA affiliations. Beginners can start with Discover Scuba Diving and progress through the Open Water Diver and Advanced Open Water Diver courses.

For more experienced divers, the curriculum includes the PADI Rescue Diver, Divemaster, and specialty courses such as Deep Diver, Night Diver, Enriched Air Nitrox Diver, Peak Performance Buoyancy, and Underwater Navigation. The centre also provides instruction in underwater photography.

The centre operates two 7.2m semi-rigid boats, powered by 220CV outboard motors. These vessels are specifically configured for diving, ensuring efficient transit to the dive sites.

On board, you will find essential amenities including a snack area. For safety, the boats are equipped with an oxygen kit, and Nitrox is available for use during your trips.

The centre maintains an extensive inventory of kit for hire, including BCDs, regulators, wetsuits, computers, and torches. For those interested in underwater photography, cameras are available upon request.

Shore-based facilities include a dedicated area for rinsing equipment, as well as toilets and showers. The centre also manages its own air and Nitrox filling station located near the embarkation quay. The cylinder inventory includes fifty 15-litre twin-port cylinders and five 12-litre cylinders.

The marine life around Ustica is shaped by nutrient-rich currents that support a vibrant ecosystem. You will frequently encounter large pelagics such as Great barracuda and various species of Grouper. The rocky structures and walls are often home to Moray eel and scorpionfish.

Fixed life is abundant across the reefs, with red gorgonians and various sponges providing colour to the seascape. You can also find Posidonia oceanica meadows, sea anemones, daisy anemones, and the famous 'roses of Ustica'.

For those interested in macro life, the area is excellent for spotting crustaceans. Look out for lobsters, slipper lobsters, and various crabs, as well as species like the damselfish and bogue.

The diving season runs from April to October. The island is influenced by marine currents that are rich in plankton, which in turn supports the local food chain.

Sea conditions can vary, but the centre's semi-rigid boats are chosen to handle the local waters effectively during morning departures.
