Murena Diving Sporting Club Trieste

Located in Trieste, Murena Diving Sporting Club is a non-profit amateur sports association with nearly four decades of experience. Since its founding in 1986, the club has grown from a small group of enthusiasts into a recognised PADI 5 Star Dive Resort, serving as a cornerstone for the local diving community.

The club's identity is rooted in a deep respect for the marine environment and a commitment to underwater science. This approach is reflected in their organised seabed clean-ups and collaborations with local environmental bodies, ensuring that exploration goes hand-in-hand with protection.

The club is managed by a team of 10 qualified instructors, providing a high level of expertise across various disciplines. They maintain a strict 1:1 diver-to-guide ratio for trial dives, ensuring individual attention and safety from the very first breath underwater.

Training is structured around both theoretical and practical components. Theory sessions are held in the evening at the club's headquarters, while practical pool sessions take place on Tuesday evenings at the Polo Natatorio B. Bianchi in Trieste. Sea outings are organised based on the specific requirements of the course being undertaken.

Murena offers a comprehensive curriculum through PADI, covering everything from the initial Open Water Diver course to Advanced Open Water Diver. For those looking to progress into technical territories, the club provides PADI TecRec training, including Nitrox and Trimix certifications.

Beyond scuba diving, the club has expanded its expertise to include a dedicated PADI Freediver section, which will launch officially in 2026. They also provide DAN First Aid training and Apnea courses for those interested in breath-hold diving.

The club is equipped to support both recreational and technical divers. Nitrox is available on-site for those looking to extend their bottom times, and the facility supports technical diving with Trimix capabilities.

For those beginning their journey, the club offers trial dives both in the pool during February and March, and in the sea during the summer months. An annual medical certificate is a mandatory requirement for all members to participate in diving activities.
