Spearo Zone

Located in Abu Dhabi, Spearo Zone has established itself as a dedicated hub for breath-hold divers and spearfishers within the United Arab Emirates. Since its founding in 2018, the centre has moved beyond standard recreational diving to focus heavily on the technical skills required for freediving and underwater hunting.

As an official SSI partner, the centre provides a structured environment for those looking to transition from surface swimming to disciplined apnea. Whether you are looking to take your first breath-hold session or are seeking advanced spearfishing safety training, the focus remains on technical proficiency and safety.

The centre operates with a focus on high-level education, having already guided more than 1,000 students through their various freediving and spearfishing programmes. This experience is central to their teaching methodology, ensuring that students move through the stages of apnea with confidence.

By adhering to SSI standards, the instructors ensure that safety and technique are the primary drivers of every session. This is particularly important in the context of spearfishing, where the centre provides specific safety and training modules to prepare divers for the unique challenges of the hunt.

The training programme is heavily weighted towards apnea and spearfishing. For those new to the water, a Try Freedive session offers an initial introduction to the discipline.

More structured pathways include the Freedive Level 1 course and specialised Spearfishing Safety & Training. For those interested in the hunting aspect, they also offer a Basic Spearfishing course to build the necessary foundational skills.

Spearo Zone is notable for its involvement in equipment manufacturing, specifically producing their own line of aluminium spearguns. Their range includes the Seefa, Kaser, Rabdan, and the Rabdan Roller, providing divers with precision tools designed for local conditions.

For those joining boat excursions, the centre provides a social atmosphere on the water, including BBQ meals, refreshments, and soft drinks. They also provide inflatable tubes and music to enhance the experience between dives.

The diving area is characterised by calm seas, making it a reliable location for both freediving and spearfishing. Visibility in the region typically ranges between 4 and 10 metres.
