Diving Funs

Located in San Andrés, Diving Funs has been a fixture of the local diving community for over two decades. Originally founded in 2010, the centre established its physical base in 2018 to better serve divers looking for more than just a standard recreational outing.

The centre distinguishes itself through a strong focus on marine biology and environmental stewardship. Beyond standard dives, they integrate scientific diving and coral restoration into their mission, making every immersion an opportunity to engage with the local ecosystem.

The team is composed of highly qualified instructors certified by both PADI and RAID. This dual affiliation allows them to provide a wide range of training programmes to divers of all levels.

They prioritise small group sizes to maintain a personalised approach to every dive and course. The staff is multilingual, capable of communicating in Spanish, English, and Portuguese.

Inclusion and accessibility are core to their operations, with specific training available for adaptive diving. Their commitment to the ocean is reflected in their active participation in local coral restoration and environmental education initiatives.

The training catalogue is extensive, covering everything from introductory levels like Discover Scuba Diving and Scuba Diver to professional paths such as Divemaster. They offer PADI and RAID certifications, including Open Water Diver, Advanced Open Water Diver, and Rescue Diver.

Specialised training is a significant part of their curriculum. Divers can pursue Nitrox-specific courses, Deep Diver, Night Diver, and Dry Suit Diver certifications. For those interested in the scientific side of the ocean, they offer Underwater Naturalist and Underwater Digital Photography courses, alongside Emergency Oxygen Provider training.

The centre provides a full range of rental kit for those not travelling with their own equipment. This includes regulators, BCDs, wetsuits, fins, and masks.

For those interested in specialised photography, underwater digital photography equipment and training are available. They also stock essential dive hardware for purchase, including BCDs, regulators, fins, masks, mouthpieces, and dive computers.

The reefs around San Andrés are characterised by vibrant coral formations and a variety of tropical fish. You will encounter various species of angelfish (Pomacanthidae) and parrotfish (Calotomus) navigating the reef structures.

Pelagic life and larger reef inhabitants add excitement to the dives. Divers may spot eagle rays (Aetobatus) cruising the water column or green sea turtles (Chelonia mydas) near the reef.

In the surrounding waters, you can also find grey reef sharks (Carcharhinus amblyrhynchos) and yellowtail surgeonfish. The diversity of the ecosystem is supported by a healthy population of tropical fish and extensive coral cover.
