TamaDive Dive Center

TamaDive is situated in the coastal town of Tamarindo, Costa Rica, providing access to some of the most significant marine environments in the region. Established in 2018, the centre has built a reputation for delivering personalised service through its dedicated team of instructors and divemasters.

The centre was founded by two experienced instructors, Franko from Spain and Remo from Switzerland. This international background is reflected in the service provided, with the team being able to communicate fluently in both English and Spanish.

As an SSI-affiliated centre, TamaDive offers a structured progression for divers, from those taking their first breaths underwater to professionals working towards their Divemaster rating. The staff focuses on safety and individualised attention to ensure a professional diving experience for every guest.

TamaDive offers a comprehensive curriculum of SSI courses. Beginners can start with Try Scuba Diving or the Scuba Diver course, progressing through to the Open Water Diver and Advanced Open Water Diver certifications.

For those looking to enhance their safety skills or professional profile, the centre provides the Diver Stress & Rescue course and the Divemaster programme. They also offer Refresher courses for divers looking to brush up on their skills before heading back into the water.

For divers travelling without their own kit, the centre provides a full range of equipment for hire. This includes everything required to complete a dive, from regulators to wetsuits and fins.

Logistics are managed from the centre in Tamarindo, where the daily meeting time is 6:15 am for a 6:30 am departure. Transfers can be arranged from your accommodation, though these are subject to additional fees.

The region is renowned for its large pelagics. Depending on the time of year, you can encounter whale sharks and manta rays. The waters are also home to whitetip reef sharks, nurse sharks, and bull sharks, the latter being most prevalent between May and September.

In the surrounding reefs and islands, you will find a diverse array of marine life including various species of octopus and a wide variety of reef fish.

Macro life and smaller inhabitants add further interest to the dives, with divers frequently spotting octopus and other interesting invertebrates throughout the area.

The best time to plan your diving in this region is between May and November. During the month of February, conditions can be more challenging with stronger winds, larger waves, and increased swell.

Water temperatures fluctuate between 16°C and 30°C depending on the season.
