The setting gives you the coast immediately, while Sunderland and the wider Tyne and Wear area remain within reach by car or public transport. Tynemouth Castle and Priory is about 12 miles away by road, and Arbeia Roman Fort and Museum is around 6 miles away. For a change from saltwater and neoprene, Hylton Castle is roughly 3.8 miles away.

Newcastle International Airport is about 17 miles by road, with a drive of around 30 minutes. Teesside International Airport is farther south, around 36 miles by road, with a drive of about 48 minutes.

Families have a children’s playground and outdoor play equipment, while the inn welcomes pets on request. For everyone else, the appeal is simpler: a sea view, a seat outside and enough nearby coastline to make doing very little feel like a deliberate plan.
