Located at the Mount Batten Centre in Plymouth, In Deep Dive Centre has been a fixture of the UK diving scene since 2015. The centre is perfectly positioned to access the rich marine environments of Plymouth Sound, where the combination of deep reefs and historic wrecks provides a diverse playground for all levels of experience.

Whether you are looking for a structured training programme or a dedicated charter to explore local shipwrecks, the operation is built around the specific demands of British coastal diving. They place a heavy emphasis on boat skills, ensuring you are comfortable with entry and exit techniques before heading out to the deeper sites.

The team is composed of highly qualified instructors and professionals, several of whom hold degrees in marine science. This academic background brings a layer of biological insight to every dive, helping you understand the ecosystems you are visiting rather than just observing them.

As a RAID affiliated centre, the training follows a high standard of safety and structured progression. The staff are experienced in handling both recreational divers and those moving into technical territory, providing a professional environment for everyone from first-time Try Divers to Master Rescue candidates.

Training at the centre covers the full spectrum of the RAID curriculum. Beginners can start with a Try Dive or the Open Water 20 course, while those looking to progress can move through the Explorer 30 and advanced certifications.

For more experienced divers, the centre offers specialised training including Drysuit Diver, Nitrox Diver, and Twinset Foundations. They also provide advanced safety and rescue training, such as Master Rescue and Oxygen Administration, as well as technical support through their HSE packages.

The centre operates a versatile fleet of four vessels, including a 10m RIB, a monohull, and a catamaran. These boats are specifically designed for training and excursions, allowing for efficient access to the various reefs and wrecks around the coast.

On longer trips or full-day excursions, the boats are equipped to keep you comfortable with hot food, drinks, and light lunches provided on board. For those heading out on shark excursions, the boats are prepared for the specific requirements of these trips, with a scheduled meeting time of 08:30 at the centre.

The shore-based facilities at Mount Batten are designed for comfort between dives, featuring heated changing rooms, showers, and an on-site bar and restaurant. There is also plenty of space for kit preparation, with free parking available on-site for all divers.

For those with specific gas requirements, the centre boasts one of the largest gas filling systems in Europe. They can provide Air, Nitrox, and Trimix at pressures up to 300 bars. Full kit hire is available, which is particularly useful for those joining for introductory dives or specific shark excursions.

The local waters are known for seasonal pelagic encounters. Between July and September, the area offers the chance to see Blue sharks during dedicated excursions.

In the surrounding reefs and wrecks, you will find a variety of marine life characteristic of the South West coast. The seabed is often home to various crustaceans and smaller organisms that thrive in the temperate Atlantic waters.

Macro life is a key component of the local ecosystem, with divers often searching for smaller species amongst the reef structures and within the crevices of the wrecks.
