Bamsi

The Bahamas Agriculture and Marine Science Institute (BAMSI) is a premier educational institution situated in North Andros. Established in 2014, it operates as a specialised centre for marine science, aquaculture, and agricultural research, rather than a traditional recreational dive centre.

Its campus is centred on the Queens Highway, providing a base for hands-on learning and technical training. While the primary focus is academic and research-driven, the institute is deeply integrated into the marine landscape of the Bahamas, preparing the next generation of professionals through science-based, sustainable practices.

BAMSI operates with a strong emphasis on academic excellence and research, maintaining a small student-to-faculty ratio of 9:1. This ensures that those engaged in marine science or aquaculture programmes receive focused, individual attention during practical sessions.

The team is composed of lecturers and researchers dedicated to environmental stewardship and leadership. The institution is officially registered and approved by the National Accreditation and Equivalency Council of the Bahamas (NAECOB), ensuring that all technical training meets rigorous national standards.

The institute offers a range of academic and technical certifications. For those pursuing higher education, Associate of Science degrees are available in Marine Science and Aquaculture.

Technical vocational training includes the Flats Fishing Captain's License Class B and STCW certifications. The curriculum also covers specialised disciplines such as Aquaponics and Nature Guide Marine Tours, providing practical skills for careers in the Bahamian marine and agricultural sectors.
