Dive Goa

Located in Candolim, Dive Goa has been a staple of the local diving scene since 2006. The centre is positioned to take advantage of the region's unique underwater topography, offering access to a variety of environments ranging from shallow reef flats to deeper rocky pinnacles and wrecks.

For those looking to progress their skills, the centre serves as a significant hub for professional development. It is notably the only SSI Instructor Training Centre on the Indian mainland, making it a primary destination for divers looking to move into professional instruction.

The centre was founded by Ajey Patil, a marine engineer and naturalist, which brings a technical and biological perspective to their diving programmes. As an established Instructor Training Centre, the team is geared towards high-level instruction across both PADI and SSI pathways.

Instruction is conducted in English, ensuring that international divers can follow technical briefings and course material without difficulty. The team maintains a focus on international expertise and safety standards across all levels of certification.

The course catalogue is extensive, catering to everyone from absolute beginners to professional candidates. New divers can start with Try Scuba or work through the PADI Scuba Diver or SSI Open Water Diver certifications. For those looking to expand their repertoire, the centre offers Advanced Open Water Diver, Deep Diver, and Underwater Navigation courses.

Specialised training is also available, including Peak Performance Buoyancy, Wreck Dive, and Recreational Side Mount. For divers interested in the technical or professional side, the centre provides Rescue Diver, Stress & Rescue Diver, and instructor-level training through its SSI affiliation.

Dive Goa provides a full range of rental equipment for divers who do not wish to carry their own kit. This includes everything from regulators and BCDs to fins and masks, allowing for a seamless transition from arrival to the dive boat.

For those looking to explore the darker side of the reef, torches are available for hire to facilitate night dives.

The waters around Grande Island host a variety of tropical fish and colourful corals that populate the reefs and pinnacles. You can expect to see parrotfishes, butterflyfishes, and various other tropical fish species moving through the water column.

In the more sheltered areas and along the reef, you will find stingrays and turtles. The presence of eels (Anguilliformes) and bamboo sharks (Chiloscyllium) adds to the biodiversity of the seabed.

Macro life and smaller inhabitants include a variety of invertebrates and smaller reef species. The diverse marine life makes the area a consistent interest for both recreational divers and underwater photographers.

The best time to dive in this region is from October to May. During this window, the waters are warm and relatively sheltered, providing favourable conditions for both training and exploration.

Visibility typically ranges between 3 and 8 metres, depending on the specific site and seasonal conditions.
