Scuba Center Sv. Marina

Located in Labin, Scuba Center Sv. Marina has been a staple of the Croatian diving scene since 1996. The centre is positioned to offer a variety of diving styles, from easy shore entries on nearby reefs to organised boat excursions that head further out into the Adriatic Sea.

Recognised for its professional standards, the centre was named the best diving centre in the Mediterranean by Tauchen magazine for three consecutive years. Whether you are looking to complete your first certification or are an experienced diver seeking wreck or technical training, the facility is built to support all levels of progression.

The team is led by Lorena, the centre's owner and director, and features a professional mix of instructors and guides. Edi serves as a CMAS** and SSI instructor, providing high-level training across various disciplines. Supporting the operations are Paolo, a Divemaster and Skipper, and Kristabel, also a Divemaster and Skipper.

Instruction is available in both English and German, ensuring clear communication during training and on boat trips. The centre maintains a strong focus on safety, providing oxygen and first aid as part of their organised dives, with proximity to hyperbaric chambers in Pula and Rijeka.

The centre offers a comprehensive curriculum through both CMAS and SSI affiliations. Beginners can start with Discovery Scuba Diving or progress through the SSI Open Water Diver and Advanced Adventurer courses. For those following the CMAS path, the centre provides P1, P2, and P3 certifications.

Experienced divers can specialise through various modules, including Deep Diving, Navigation, Wreck Diving, and Marine Ecology. The centre also caters to technical divers with SSI XR Extended Range and Extended Range Nitrox training, alongside Gas Blender courses. Specialty training such as Night Diving, Stress & Rescue, and Dry Suit diving is also available.

The centre operates two boats to facilitate excursions to more distant sites across the Adriatic. These vessels have a combined capacity for up to 12 divers, making them well-suited for small groups or organised training sessions. The boats allow you to move beyond the immediate shore reefs to reach deeper wrecks and more complex underwater topography.

The shore-based facilities are designed for efficiency and independence, featuring five compressors powered by both petrol and electricity. A large 150,000-litre air reservoir ensures a reliable supply of compressed air with minimal wait times. Nitrox is available on-site, filled up to 40%.

Full kit hire is available for those not travelling with their own equipment, including regulators, BCDs, computers, and wetsuits. The centre also stocks drysuits for those looking to explore cooler conditions or deeper sites. For night diving, torches are available for hire to ensure you can navigate the reefs after dark.

The local reefs and walls are home to a variety of Mediterranean species. You will frequently encounter schools of Adriatic fish, along with octopus, lobsters, and crabs inhabiting the rocky crevices and caves.

In the more sheltered areas and canyons, conger eels are a common sight. The underwater topography, including gorgonian canyons and rocky outcrops, provides a rich habitat for these predators and various other reef-dwelling creatures.

Macro life enthusiasts can look for octopus hiding in the various habitats provided by the reefs. The presence of diverse crustaceans like lobsters and crabs adds to the biological richness of the sites, particularly during night dives or when exploring the deeper sections of the walls.

Diving in this area is well-suited to a variety of styles, with some sites being easily accessible from the shore and others requiring a boat to reach. The proximity to the coastline means that shore entries are a viable option for many of the local reefs.

For those heading out on boat trips, the Adriatic offers varied conditions, though the Lina wreck is noted for having minimal current, making it a stable environment for wreck exploration once you reach depth.
