Diving RABAC is an SSI dive centre situated in the heart of the Rabac bay in Istria, Croatia. Based at the Mimosa Lido Palace hotel at Maslinica Beach, the centre provides easy access to some of the most varied underwater topography in the Adriatic, from shallow reef flats to deep vertical walls.

Whether you are looking to complete your first certification or you are a technical diver seeking deeper exploration, the centre operates daily from late March through to late October. The location allows for a mix of shore-based entries and boat-led expeditions to more remote sites.

Managed by Philipp and Sabrina, the team focuses on personalised service and safety. The centre is an SSI affiliated school, offering a structured environment for both recreational and professional progression.

Instruction is conducted with a maximum ratio of four divers per guide, ensuring close supervision and a tailored experience. The team is experienced in teaching a wide variety of specialties and is able to communicate in both English and German.

The centre provides a comprehensive curriculum through SSI, covering every level of diver. You can start with Try Scuba or Open Water Diver and progress through Scuba Diver, Advanced Open Water Diver, and into professional training such as Divemaster.

Specialist training is also widely available, ranging from Perfect Buoyancy and Navigation to more technical modules like Deep Diving, Wreck Diving, and Decompression Diving. The centre also offers skills updates, Dry Suit Diving, and Gas Blender Nitrox/Trimix for those looking to expand their technical capabilities.

The centre operates a 250PS semi-rigid boat with a hard hull, designed to carry up to 12 passengers. This vessel allows you to reach the more interesting sites further out in the bay that are inaccessible from the shore.

Onboard, refreshments are included for certain outings, and the boat is equipped to support various dive profiles. Nitrox and Trimix are available for those requiring enriched air or technical gas mixes during boat-led excursions.

The shore-based facilities include a stock of steel cylinders ranging from 8 to 15 litres. Air is supplied via a BAUER compressor, ensuring reliable fills for your dives.

For those travelling without their own kit, a full rental service is available, including masks, snorkels, fins, and wetsuits. Please note that certain essential items such as dive computers, torches, compasses, and SMBs are not included in the standard full kit hire.

The marine life in the Rabac area is defined by its vibrant fixed life. You will encounter various species of gorgonians, including red and yellow varieties, alongside sponges and sea anemones. The limestone walls are often decorated with sea fans and colourful corals.

Macro life and crustaceans are common when exploring the cracks and crevices of the reefs. Keep an eye out for octopuses, lobsters, and spiny lobsters, as well as various species of conger eels and cuttlefish.

In the open water and around the reefs, you can find groupers, dragonets, and various types of sea snails. The biodiversity is supported by a healthy ecosystem of anemones and sponges that provide habitat for the local fish populations.

The diving season in this part of Istria runs from 28 March to 24 October. During this period, the centre offers both shore dives and boat excursions depending on the weather and sea state.

While the bay provides many sheltered areas, the availability of the semi-rigid boat allows for access to more open sites. Divers should always check the daily conditions with the team before heading out on a boat trip.
