Masseria Corsano

Masseria Corsano is a resort for divers who want the sea nearby but do not need to sleep beside it. You stay in the countryside of Nardò, with gardens, an outdoor pool and a wellness centre giving the day a slower second act once the mask and fins are put away.

English is spoken by the hotel team, alongside Italian, so you can deal with the practicalities without resorting to underwater hand signals. The setting suits couples particularly well, while family suites and babysitting make it workable for a wider group. The address sits in the countryside of Nardò, around 5 km from the town. You are not booking a beachfront hotel: the resort is inland, with the coast reached by car or by the resort's access to a golden-sand beach around 500 m away on foot. Sun loungers and parasols are available there.

For a change of scenery, Porto Selvaggio and Palude del Capitano Regional Natural Park is around 4 miles away, while Torre Uluzzo is around 3 miles away. Nardò station is around 5 miles from the resort, and Nardò Centrale is around 5 miles away by road. Gallipoli Castle is around 8 miles away, with Lecce, Otranto and Gallipoli also available as organised excursions.

The area is easier with a car, and car hire is available at the resort. You can also reach nearby restaurants, including Trattoria I Corsari around 2 miles away and Tins 2.0 around 1 mile away. The nearest named bars are in and around Nardò, roughly 4 miles away, so the resort's own bar matters once you have decided that driving after dinner is not part of the plan.

The room choice is mainly about how much space you want around the dive bags and whether you are travelling as a couple or with family. A Junior Suite or a suite with terrace keeps things straightforward for two, while the larger Family Suites make more sense when several people need proper room to spread out rather than taking turns with the wardrobe.

Air conditioning matters in Puglia, particularly when a day has involved salt water, sun and a drive back from the coast. An outdoor dining area is available, and wine and champagne can be ordered when the evening calls for something less functional than another bottle of water.

The main outdoor pool is the obvious post-dive landing zone, with a pool bar close enough to remove the need for heroic effort. Sun loungers, parasols and pool towels are available, while the gardens, sun terrace and outdoor seating give you several ways to sit still without making a formal commitment to relaxation.

The Corsano Wellness Center covers the more deliberate recovery work: massages, facials, a sauna and a Turkish bath. There is also a hot tub, an open-air bath, a spa lounge and wellness packages. If your legs still have opinions after several days of diving, the fitness centre and yoga classes offer a less horizontal option.

For a day away from the water, you can hire bicycles, join bike or walking tours, take a cooking class or book a local-culture activity. Cycling, canoeing, kayaking, paddleboarding, snorkelling and boat excursions are available, while horse riding and windsurfing are also offered off site. Live music gives the evening a little movement, and excursions can take you to Lecce, Otranto or Gallipoli.

Brindisi–Salento Airport is the main air gateway, with airport shuttle service available to arrange with the hotel. Car hire is also available and will make the beaches, dive centres, towns and archaeological sites easier to reach. Free private parking is available on site, with no reservation needed.

The front desk operates around the clock, and private check-in and check-out, concierge service and luggage storage are available.
