The hotel suits you if the sea should be part of the day even when you are not underwater. Direct access to a sandy beach, a terrace, a garden and a bar give you several ways to slow down once your kit is put away. English and Italian are spoken by the hotel team, so you can deal with the practicalities in English from arrival onwards.

You are in Ponza, Italy, on Via Panoramica, with the sea directly accessible from the hotel. This is the useful sort of coastal location: you can reach the beach without arranging transport, while the island's streets, bars and restaurants are close enough for an evening on foot. Bar Tripoli is about 900 feet away, and Il Pacchero da Rita is roughly 500 feet from the door. That is comfortably within range after a shower, even if your legs have had a full day of work.

Spiaggia S. Antonio is about 350 metres away by the route shown for walking, while Spiaggia Giancos is about 1 km away. Cala Feola is further out, at about 3 miles on foot. For something with a historical angle, Forte Papa is around 4 miles away on foot. The hotel itself looks towards the sea, and rooms in the newer building can also face Ponza's bay, the ruins of the Villa of Augustus, orchards and vineyards.

The choice is less about chasing a room label and more about deciding how much space and outlook you want. Couples can choose a double room with a sea view when waking up to Ponza's bay matters more than keeping the accommodation compact. The economy doubles are the practical option for a shorter stay, while the larger family rooms and the suite make more sense when three, four or more people need to share without turning the room into a surface interval briefing room.

For a group or an extended stay, the penthouse in the tower is the obvious outlier, with a large amount of space and two bathrooms. Some tower suites are arranged over two levels and use old furniture, giving the historic building a stronger sense of place. The tower rooms have air conditioning, a television and a private bathroom; heating is also available. Daily housekeeping, towels, a hairdryer and wardrobe space cover the basics without making the room feel like a catalogue of gadgets.

There is one named hotel bar: Bar Borboni. It focuses on cocktails and drinks, so you can make the evening as restrained or as sociable as you like. A snack bar and an on-site coffee house cover the lighter moments, while fruit and wine or champagne are also available. The hotel works on a half-board basis, useful if you want some meals handled in-house while keeping enough freedom to try Ponza's nearby restaurants.

You are not tied to the hotel for every meal. Il Pacchero da Rita, Old Tom Ponza and Spaccio Birra are all within roughly 500 to 950 feet on foot, while Bar Tripoli is about 900 feet away. In other words, you can choose the terrace, the hotel bar or a short wander into town without turning dinner into an expedition.

The beach is the main leisure feature here, with direct access to sand, sun loungers and parasols. That gives you the simplest possible post-dive plan: sit down, look at the water and avoid making any unnecessary decisions for a while. The terrace, sun terrace and garden offer alternatives when you want to stay outdoors but would rather not remain on the beach.

When you have more energy, the hotel offers access to a broad range of water-based activities, including snorkelling, kayaking, paddleboarding, sailing, windsurfing, windsurfing, kitesurfing, jet skiing, fishing and boat excursions. Equipment hire is available. The list is unusually useful for a diving stay because a non-diving companion can fill a day on the water without needing to follow the same timetable as you.

On land, cycling, hiking, wildlife observation and cultural excursions give you reasons to explore Ponza beyond the shoreline.
