Blue Sea Diving Center

Blue Sea Diving Center is situated in the heart of Isola Bella, Sicily, operating as a PADI 5 Star Resort. The centre provides access to the Isola Bella marine park, an area renowned for its rich biodiversity and varied underwater topography in the Ionian Sea.

From shallow, calm plateaus to deeper canyons and cave systems, the local sites offer a progressive environment for divers. Whether you are looking to complete your first certification or seeking more technical challenges like sidemount or dry suit diving, the centre is positioned to facilitate both.

The team consists of 5 instructors capable of guiding you through a wide range of PADI courses and recreational dives. They operate with a multilingual approach, providing instruction and guidance in Italian, English, Japanese, German, Arabic, and Tagalog.

As a 5 Star PADI facility, the centre maintains high standards for both training and exploration. The instructors oversee all activities, ensuring that every dive, from a first Discover Scuba Diving session to advanced cave or night dives, is managed professionally.

The training programme is extensive, covering the full spectrum of PADI certifications. Beginners can start with Discover Scuba Diving, moving through to Scuba Diver and Open Water Diver levels.

For those looking to specialise, the centre offers a variety of specialty courses including Enriched Air Diver, Deep Diver, Peak Performance Buoyancy, Underwater Navigator, Night Diver, Sidemount Diver, Diver Propulsion Vehicle, and Dry Suit Diver. Advanced training is also available through the Advanced Open Water and Rescue Diver programmes.

The centre operates a single 8.80-metre RIB, designed to carry up to 16 divers comfortably. It is powered by a 250 HP Mercury EFI 4T engine, ensuring reliable transit to the various sites around Capo Taormina and the Isola Bella coastline.

On board, you will find refreshments including water and fruit to keep you hydrated between dives. The boat is used for a variety of trips, including standard exploration dives and night dives, and is equipped to handle the local conditions of the Ionian Sea.

The centre provides full equipment hire using modern, well-maintained kit from Cressi Sub. This includes BCDs, regulators, wetsuits, fins, and masks, allowing you to dive without bringing your own heavy gear.

For those looking to extend their training or dive more efficiently, Nitrox is available on site. The facility also includes a swimming pool located near the classroom area, which is an excellent resource for practicing skills or preparing for new certifications.

The marine life around Isola Bella is diverse, with many species inhabiting the various walls and rocky structures. You will frequently encounter large groupers, moray eels, and various species of octopus and sea urchins.

On the deeper walls and near the pinnacles, keep an eye out for large schools of seabream, hake, and barracuda. The rocky crevices and caves are often home to various species of shrimp and lobster.

For those interested in macro life, the area is rich with smaller inhabitants. You can find various species of anemones, fanworms, and various shells, including Cyprea shells on the S. Nicola wall.

The diving environment around Taormina is characterised by a variety of habitats, from flat, current-free sandy bottoms to more complex canyon and cave systems. Many of the shallower sites, such as Atlantis Bay and Blue Cave Bay, are protected and offer calm conditions suitable for beginners.

As you move toward the outer pinnacles and deeper walls, the topography becomes more varied. While many sites are sheltered, divers should always be mindful of the local conditions when navigating through swim-throughs or cave entrances.
