That is useful when your diving day runs to its own timetable and you do not want every meal, coffee and bottle of water to become a formal occasion.

The property also works for more than couples travelling light. Family rooms, a children's playground and generous private parking make it a sensible option for mixed groups or a diving trip with relatives in tow. You have a 24-hour reception, free Wi-Fi throughout the property and daily housekeeping, which covers the unglamorous but useful parts of a hotel stay without making a performance of them.

There is a bar for a drink on site, a garden with outdoor furniture and an outdoor pool available from June to the end of August. The atmosphere is therefore more practical leisure base than beach club. For a diver, that can be exactly the point: somewhere to sleep, eat breakfast, cool off and decide what the evening is going to look like.

Tursport is in San Vito, within Taranto, in southern Italy. Taranto city centre is about a 10-minute drive away, while the nearest beach is roughly 0.3 miles from the property. You are not booking a hotel with a beach directly outside the door, so a car or other local transport will make the coastline easier to use, particularly if you want to visit more than one shore.

Several beaches sit within reach by car. Conchetta di Posto Vecchio Beach is about 3.6 miles away by road, Mon Reve Beach around 5 miles, and Gandoli Bay Beach about 6 miles. The arrangement gives you a choice of coastal outings rather than tying the whole stay to one patch of sand.

Taranto itself brings the useful change of scenery. The National Archaeological Museum of Taranto Marta, Castello Aragonese, Taranto Sotterranea and the Acquedotto Romano are all within roughly 4 to 6 miles by road. Restaurants are closer: Ristorante al Piccolo Porticciolo is about 0.3 miles away, while Pizza Point is around 0.3 miles. Brindisi–Salento Airport is approximately 50 miles by road, with a drive of about 1 hour and 5 minutes.

The room choice is less about collecting categories and more about deciding how much space your party needs. Couples can keep things simple with a double or twin room, while the larger deluxe rooms and family rooms give groups more room to spread out. A family of four has room types designed around either a king-size bed with single beds or four single beds, which is worth checking carefully if everyone has strong views on sleeping arrangements.

The deluxe triple room is the obvious middle ground for three people, with a king-size bed and a single bed. For two guests who prefer an apartment setup, the one-bedroom apartment in the separate building brings a different rhythm to the stay. It suits you if having a little more independence matters more than being in the main hotel building.

Every accommodation option has a private bathroom, with a shower or bath, towels and a bidet. Air conditioning matters in Taranto when you return warm, salty and ready to stop thinking for the day; heating is available for cooler periods. Wardrobes give you somewhere to put the clothes that have not yet been promoted to tomorrow's diving kit, and a flat-screen TV with cable and satellite channels handles the quieter part of the evening. If you prefer something substantial before a morning in the water, it is worth choosing from what is available rather than assuming an all-day breakfast operation.

There is one bar on the property, giving you somewhere to order a drink without immediately getting back in the car. A minibar in the accommodation covers the more private version of that arrangement. The hotel also lists special-diet menus on request, which is useful if a standard breakfast spread does not fit your requirements.

For a proper evening meal, local options are close by. Ristorante al Piccolo Porticciolo is about a five-minute walk away, and Pizza Point is around a six-minute walk. Aguaraja Park is also nearby, roughly an eleven-minute walk. In other words, you can keep dinner simple after a long day, or head into Taranto when you want a wider choice.

The outdoor pool is the main place to switch off on the property, with pool and beach towels, sun umbrellas and loungers available. It opens from June until the end of August, and a swimming cap is required. That is a small practical detail, but the sort you would rather know before arriving with a towel and a plan.

You also have access to a fitness centre, with use arranged through reception and subject to availability. Sports fields are available free of charge when reserved, although sports equipment is not included. This gives you something active to do on a non-diving day without turning the hotel into a timetable of organised entertainment.

For families, the children's playground and outdoor play equipment provide their own outlet. For everyone else, the garden and outdoor furniture offer a less ambitious option: sit down, cool off and let the day lose its edges. The property is also close enough to Taranto for a cultural afternoon, with the National Archaeological Museum, Castello Aragonese and Taranto Sotterranea available when you want more than a sun lounger.

A car is useful here. Tursport has free private parking on site, with no reservation needed, and the parking area is suitable for cars and coaches. That makes the property easier to manage if you are travelling with your own vehicle or as part of a larger group. Taranto railway station is about 7 miles away by road, while Taranto Galese station is around 8 miles away.

Check-in runs from 15:00 to midnight and check-out from 07:30 to 11:00. You need to tell the property your expected arrival time, and you will need photo identification and a payment card at check-in. Payment can also be made in cash. Full payment is due on arrival.

The 24-hour reception can arrange luggage storage and provide invoices. Free Wi-Fi is available in all areas, and wake-up service is available if a very early start has been agreed with your plans. Cots and extra beds can be requested for children, subject to the accommodation option and availability.
