Freediving Malta - Molchanovs Wave Course

Located in Mellieħa, Freediving Malta Academy is a specialised centre dedicated to the discipline of freediving. The academy focuses on the technical and mental aspects of breath-hold diving, offering structured progression through the Molchanovs curriculum.

Training is designed to build physical strength, mental clarity, and a deep connection with the Mediterranean environment. You will move from fundamental skills in a pool setting to advanced techniques in Malta's diverse open water sites.

The academy is led by experienced instructors, including Ivan Bednarik, who guide you through each stage of your training. The teaching approach prioritises safety and mental well-being, ensuring you develop the necessary skills for deeper dives.

All instruction is conducted in English. The academy caters to various skill levels, from those just starting out to advanced practitioners seeking expert-level certification.

The centre offers the full range of Molchanovs Wave certifications. You can begin with the Molchanovs Wave 1 course and progress through Wave 2, Wave 3, and Wave 4 to reach expert levels.

Each course integrates both pool-based sessions and open water training to ensure you master equalization, breath-hold techniques, and safety protocols.

The academy provides full kit for all scheduled courses. This includes all the necessary equipment required to complete your training modules.

In addition to course-provided kit, the centre is located in the Mellieħa area, providing easy access to the various training environments used for the Molchanovs programme.

The marine life around the Maltese islands is diverse, featuring various reef and wreck species. You can encounter grouper, barracuda, and conger eels around the rocky structures and wrecks.

For those interested in smaller species, the area hosts octopus, sea turtles, and pipefish. You may also spot seahorses and various species of snapper and sar.

The local reefs and caves are home to several interesting inhabitants including octopus and various species of fish.

The area offers a variety of underwater environments including wrecks, reefs, caves, and steep drops. These sites are accessible to divers of all experience levels.
