Scuba Life Malta

Scuba Life Malta is a PADI 5 Star dive centre situated in Mellieħa, providing access to the diverse underwater topography of the Maltese islands. Whether you are looking to explore the sheltered coves of the south coast or the deeper wrecks surrounding the northern islands, the centre operates as a base for exploring Malta, Gozo, and Comino.

The centre is established on a foundation of high training standards, holding an MTA licence (DIVE/0087/1). It focuses on the quality of the dive experience, ensuring that whether it is your first breath underwater or your hundredth, the focus remains on the environment and the dive itself.

Founded by Simon and Jacqui and currently managed by Janie and Mattias, the centre maintains a small, family-run identity. The team consists of experienced instructors who prioritise a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, treating divers as guests rather than just numbers on a manifest.

Instruction is delivered in English and Swedish, catering to a variety of divers. The centre is known for maintaining small group sizes, which allows for a more personalised approach to both training and guided explorations.

The course catalogue is extensive, covering the full spectrum of PADI certifications. Beginners can start with Discover Scuba Diving or the Open Water Diver course, with subsequent progression through Adventure Diver and Advanced Open Water Diver.

For those looking to specialise, the centre offers a wide array of PADI Specialty courses, including Wreck Diver, Deep Diver, Night Diver, and Sidemount Diver. Technical and skill-based training is also available through courses such as Peak Performance Buoyancy, Underwater Navigator, and the PADI Search & Recovery course. The marine life around Malta and Gozo is diverse, particularly around the wreck sites and limestone structures. You will encounter various fish species such as barracuda (Sphyraena barracuda) and grouper near the wrecks, while the reefs and arches host a variety of Mediterranean life.

In the sheltered areas like Għar Lapsi, stingrays are a regular presence on the seabed. The rocky formations and wrecks also provide habitats for various smaller species that thrive in the Mediterranean currents.

Macro life and smaller inhabitants can be found throughout the reefs and caves, including various crustaceans and smaller fish that inhabit the crevices of the limestone walls and the structures of the sunken vessels.
