Pousada Daleste is a beachfront base in Angra dos Reis for a stay built around the simple pleasures: walk from your room to the sand, cool off in the pool, eat by the water and let the evening take its own pace. The setting is practical as well as pleasant, because you do not need to organise a separate beach outing when Biscaia is part of the doorstep.

The atmosphere suits you if you prefer a small hotel rhythm to a large resort routine. Families are catered for too, with family rooms, a children’s playground and a shallow section of the pool.

A restaurant, Bar e Restaurante Tempero da Onça, is about 1,550 feet away by road, and the bus central station is around 12 miles away. For a change of scenery, Parque Estadual Cunhambebe is about 11 miles away by road. Historic Paraty is 44 miles away, and Rio de Janeiro is 98 miles away.

The room choice is mainly about how much space you need and whether the view matters. For two, the sea-view double room gives you the more obvious reason to stay here: you can keep the coast in sight rather than treating it as a brief excursion outside. For three or four, the larger family room gives you more room to spread out than the compact standard options, with separate single beds alongside a double bed.

Every room has air conditioning, a ceiling fan, a minibar, a safe and a telephone. That combination makes practical sense in a warm coastal climate: cool the room down, keep water or other essentials in the minibar, and put your valuables away before heading back to the beach or pool. Some rooms also have a sea-view balcony, which gives you somewhere to sit when you have had enough of sand but are not ready for the television.

Cable channels, a flat-screen TV and free WiFi cover the quieter part of the evening. The rooms have private bathrooms with showers, towels, toiletries and hairdryers. Drinks can also be served on the beach, which is exactly the sort of arrangement that saves you from putting proper clothes on merely to acquire a cold drink.

The restaurant and bar are on site, so you can keep the evening uncomplicated. There is no stated board formula to build your plans around; instead, you have breakfast and an à la carte restaurant for the other meals.

The main post-dive decision is whether to use the pool or walk a few steps to Biscaia Beach. The pool has a shallow section for children and a deeper section for adults, with loungers and sun umbrellas around it. A pool bar keeps drinks close by, and the surrounding area also includes a spa and sauna.

For a slower recovery, massages and the steam sauna provide the more deliberate version of doing nothing. If sitting still proves too ambitious, the games room has billiards and table tennis. There is also a shared TV lounge, a garden and a children’s playground, giving families somewhere to regroup while you take the quieter route.

Boat rides and sightseeing tours can be arranged through the tour desk, including trips to nearby Paraty. The beach itself remains the easiest option, though: calm water, sand underfoot and no timetable to chase.

Check-in runs from 14:00 to 22:00, and check-out from 08:00 to 11:00. An airport shuttle and other transfer services can be arranged with the pousada, including transfers between Rio de Janeiro and Angra dos Reis. Private parking is available on site without a reservation, and WiFi is free throughout the property.

Daily housekeeping, a tour desk and a shared lounge are available for the useful details of a longer stay. Laundry can be arranged for an additional charge. Cash is accepted, and the property does not allow pets or parties. Quiet hours run from 22:00 to 08:00, worth noting if your ideal evening ends with a sunset drink rather than a late-night soundtrack.

Children of any age are welcome. Children aged six and over are charged as adults, cots for infants can be requested, and extra beds are not available. Guests under 18 must comply with Brazilian identification and authorisation requirements when checking in.
